I remember when Resident Evil came out. I only had a 64 at the time, so I overlooked the series. I didn't ever get to play it, but I heard a lot of good about it. Again, when Resident Evil 4 came out, I heard good things about it, so I decided to pick it up. It was--and still remains--one of the best games I've ever played, so I decided to play Resident Evil for GCN next. I didn't see the appeal in it. The controls were strange to get used to, first of all. The fact that you NEVER get ammo, and have to go through the menu just to do anything are what really put me off, though. a few years later I tried RE0, which I thought was amazing. For me, the Resident Evil series has been hit or miss, but when it hits, it's out of the park.

Resident Evil 2 proved the N64 was capable of the same quality cinematics the Playstation had. I wish we had more risk takers like Capcom back then...

Edit: The camera angles of the first several games were kinda irritating... XP

Yep, that's right....I think it's wrong to compare previous RE games to RE4 and RE5

That's a fair assessment. While they have a lot in common, they are clearly very different games. I think maybe if I tried to play the original again after finishing RE0 I might like it better than when I tried it right after RE4. It's doubtful, but just maybe.

And can you go a little faster?!

But, its a Jill Sandwich!!

"Wait, I just found a weapon."
"What is it?"
"I dunno, but it is extremely powerful, especially against living things."

I believe Resident Evil needs to start from scratch and be reinvented. It's time. RE4 did reinvent the series in the last generation but then RE5 came along and killed it. Compared to RE4 and Dead Space, RE5 was laughable.

I love the RE series. The first time I saw it, my cousins were playing RE2 knifing a zombie lady from on top of a trash can(I was only 5 or 6). Anyway, I bought 1-3 from a Gamestop with some special deal for GameCube, then I only really ever played the 2nd one, and beat it with Leon only. I played though half of the 3rd, and then finally beat the 1st on Jill's story. I ended up getiing zero, but only got passed the train and I'm still there. But before I had all the others, the first RE game I played was RE4. I was 12 and I got it like 2 weeks after it came out, I got it because I saw it in a Nintendo Power along with the Prototype DS. It scared the crap out of me at first, and I thought it was insane. I even considered returning it because I thought it was too crazy, but I figured I had spent $50 on a new game, and I was going to tough it out. Eventually, after like 40 hours, I finally beat it. After I got to the castle, I was like alright, I'm starting to get used to this. This was the funnest game experience I had. I cried when my parents took it away from me... I had gotten expelled from school for throwing pudding on my gym teachers car, which caused the take away. That summer I played even deeper into the game with my friends which had gotten addicted to the game, getting me readicted. I even rode my friends bike to go get it form his house and came back as fast as I could. On my way back form my friends house, I had forgotten that his front brake was the only one that worked, and it was too good of a brake to be true, and when I used it, I flew over my friends bike, doing a sort of front flip. Luckily, I had thought fast and held my copy of RE4 close to me, and did a barrel roll to break my fall. I had the biggest bruise ever from that between my legs somehow... It was such a bad bruise that I felt like I was bleeding, but we had fun with the game for a long time. I got RE5 before this last Christmas which was really fun, but not as awesome as RE4 at my situation I was in back then. This is why I love the RE series. Sorry for my life story...

Totally agree... those two games RE4 and Dead Space were so awesome to me (wish Dead Space had RE4 wii controls though). RE5 is just annoying... why the hell you have someone stealing your ammo and stuff is beyond me.

RE5 was O.K, but nowhere near as good as RE4. It's much, much better with a second player.

Well, it was never an issue of the N64 couldn't do the same cinematics from a technical point of view; it was more that those cut scenes eat a lot of space, which the cartridges lacked.

@The Fox - actually I didn't realize you could play it (RE5) co-op.. tried but didn't see how. Didn't go far in the game yet because I hate it so much.

Lol, good stuff. There's a store in Dead Rising called Jill's Sandwiches, which I thought was funny.

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.
