So I'm writing an essay on this shot from the 1994 film Chungking Express. Does anyone happen to recognise the video game going on in the background? It stays on the same screen through the whole shot.

If it helps, I also found this in a book that briefly mentions the film. It seems to have been taken between shooting or is from a part of the shot that was edited out.

Any help would be much appreciated!

From the second screenshot the text looks like it says 'my wings are' and 'I can't fly'. The picture looks like a hand holding a fairy

The first screenshot looks like there is some sort of menu on screen, in the black box.

No idea what game it is! Sorry

Also they may be two totally different games. The shop front is different in each picture.

The one with the fairy looks really familiar but I can't place it :-/

I thought the second screen really looked Capcom-like.

After some searching, they're both from the same game/multi-game: Three Wonders.

Three Wonders is on Capcom Classics Collection Volume. 2 which everyone should have anyway.

I miss Japanese games, the good stuff... Games that are imaginative, have good and unique gameplay, a great soundtrack, and replay value.
