I tend to fear the unfamiliar. I buy games from the series I'm used to. The Mario's, The Zelda's and the Metroids. Things like that. New things make me nervous. Maybe it's my age but I'm probably missing alot of good games.

Any ideas of some good Wii games that aren't from a long running series? Maybe that would cure me. I'm always avoiding games I've never heard of unless I hear real good things about it.

De Blob is pretty good, it can get repetitive, but since its often so cheap its worth a look, but the best wii game in a long time would have to be little Kings Story, that is an amazing game IMO.

No More Heroes. Seriously, one of the best games on the Wii.
Also: Boom Blox, Geometry Wars: Galaxies(it is a series, but not a long-running one, and it's the only one on the Wii), Ultimate Shooter Collection, Rune Factory, Blast Works...Okami, and I suppose Klonoa(it is a series, but you've probably never played it). Oh, and de Blob.

Huh? Ok, that's too bad for you. I'm kinda the opposite. Take any given game and if that game is an original title as opposed to a part of an established franchise I'm more likely to be excited about it than if it were a sequel. For example, if every entry of the Need For Speed series had dropped the Need For Speed name and been its own stand alone franchise, then I might actually have bought one or two of them. There are some series that I do get excited about purely on brand name basis, and as long as a franchise keeps proving itself to me I'll keep on buying it, but once I lose interest in a franchise it'll probably stay lost, can't see myself ever buying a Crash Bandicoot or GTA game ever again. But pretty much any original entry will start with a clean slate and atleast peak my interest enough to check it more thoroughly atleast once. Personally I think the reason is that I always want to experience something new and there's just a greater chance of that happening if I try new franchises. I sort of have this idea of what gaming could be and especially these days, it seems to just not be getting there fast enough anymore and I do fear sequels are a big part of the problem.

That's why, if I'm allowed to digress here for a bit, personally I'd love if there was a much shorter cap on intellectual property than it is these days. I'm thinking after 5-10 years copyright expires (the specific games) and then after 25 years intellectual property (brands and characters and such) would become public domain. I mean, if that was how things were today, Nintendo would have lost Mario already. They could of course continue to make Mario games but so could anyone else so if they wanted any exclusive rights to anything again they would have to create something new! That could be totally amazing. An industry constantly forced to reinvent itself, only good would come of that.

Like people already have mentioned, Little Kings Story looks really nice and Okami is great (atleast on PS2). Other than that Zack & Wiki is very charming, Bully is pretty interesting, Trauma Center if you're up for something completely different (not a new franchise but not really mainstream either)...

I do have Okami. I only heard about it because I'm really into Zelda and several people suggested it. It's really cool and I'm glad I bought it. Thanks for giving me a few other ideas of what to try.
