Topic: I got a Genesis!

I was garage sale shopping today, and we found a Genesis for $25. It comes with Sonic, Sonic 2 (MD), TMNT Tournament Fighters, Quackshot, NFL Quarterback Club '96, NBA Jam '94, Blaster Master 2, and Muhammad Ali Boxing. Considering I've already downloaded Sonic to my Wii, I'll just delete it for now and re-download it if the Genesis ever stops working.

Congradulations pal you are very lucky!!!
These consoles endure the tides of time!
I still have my own Mega Drive from those days and it still rocks!!

Hyped about : Metroid other M, Super Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros Wii,Golden Sun DS and the new Legend of Zelda!

Chrono_Cross

I enjoyed the Genesis a lot.

Be sure to try out Ecco the Dolphin. Great game.

Congrats

Just for you.

That's cool, StarFox. The MegaDrive has the power to play import titles, without import cables. I recommend Ristar if you hadn't already tried it, or Gunstar Heroes.

To each their own

The Mega Drive/ Genesis is my favourite console. You have found yourself a nice little bargain, are many of the games boxed with instructions?
Out of your list I would slot Quackshot in first. Its pace may be fairly slow for a platformer, but give it some time and you've got yourself a retro treat that is unlikely to get Virtual Console release (ie. Disney licensing issues etc).
I would boot up Turtles Tournament Fighters next, you should be pleasantly surprised by it, if you like 2D one-on-one fighters. Enjoy your newly purchased retro treasure, @StarFox.

I am passionate about retro gaming, from antiquated consoles to the continuation of classics. Obviously I love PSone, and PS2 retro games. I blast my ears to breakneck melodic punk, gruff vocals and nimble alternative guitar hooks.

Thanks everyone. I've played many Genesis games before through my PS2 compilation. Quackshot is a nice little platformer that reminds me of the old NES Disney games.

I like Ristar, BTW.

TMNT Fighters is a neat little 1-on-1 fighter. April O'Neil WTF?

Since I'm new to the system, I have yet to get used to the controls, but I'll figure them out eventually.

There's a classic videogame store within driving distance, so I'll pop by sometime and see what Genesis games I can add to my collection.

Cool, I'm sure you that know this already and you most likely have the arcade version as part of the PS2/ PSP Capcom classics Collections, but if you don't have it then I strongly recommend that for your Genesis, that you should buy Strider.

My compilation is actually the Sega Genesis Collection. If I encounter Strider and Gunstar Heroes, I'll pick them up.

All but a few have their instruction manuals, boxes, and even posters and order forms. Only a few came as just the cartridge.

Man, i've been DYING to play a genesis! We originally had my 21 year old cousins one, but sadly, the boys who helped clean out our attic, my dad gave it to them. Sure, they helped, but give them a GENESIS!?! WHAT THE HECK!?!

Great pick up and you got some awesome games too. I love the Sega Genesis its tied with the NES as my favorite console. Maybe you can post some impressions on Blaster Master 2. I loved the first one but never tried the sequel.

Unfortunately, I ended up selling Master Blaster 2. I couldn't figure out its point.

Well, basically, you control this tank thing. You can shoot either up, left, or right. You can jump or move left or right. You can get hurt and there are many enemies in each area. However, I'm unaware of any plot or purpose. I couldn't even figure out where the end of the first stage was.

I once found a genesis for $10 at a garage sale, but it came with no games. Sold it on eBay.
Recently, I bought a 64 at a garage sale for only $5, and it came with a lot of games, but no AV cable. My cousin had a gamecube that he never plays, so I got the cable from that.
