Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
It was my first gaming system, actually. I loved playing Tetris and Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land, as they were the games I got from my cousins when they gave me the system.
Of course, I'm still buying games for it today, it was a great system.
Here's to the Game Boy, and another 25 years!

25 years ago today, Nintendo's first handheld, the Game Boy was released (in Japan).
I have fond memories of playing Super Mario Land on road trips. Anyone else have any memories of this system?
Yes. The GAME BOY is why I'm here on this site today. It's why spend many hours doing the things I do even outside of gaming in my work-life. Really it's had a huge impact on how I approach many things since I was young when I got mine and it left its mark!

I still remember getting the original Game Boy for Christmas that year (I always seemed to get new game consoles at Christmas). It was the start of a life long Tetris addiction for me, and I think I burned through two sets of batteries playing Tetris and Super Mario Land before I even put it down. I remember that Nintendo sold a sort of power pack for the original Game Boy that plugged into the ac jack, but I think my parents would have loved it if Nintendo had started selling their handhelds with a built in rechargeable battery pack when I was a kid.

I have over 400 games for my Gameboy, so yeah, I remember it quite well! I got it when I was 12 for Christmas and 24 years later I'm still hooked on those 4 grey shades. I still have the original with it's box and everything, but I play on a AGS-101 now. My original Gameboy turned brown I'm still amazed at how good the speaker sounds on the original though, compared to the smaller ones they used later.
