Dragon Warrior (or Quest...I guess...) has always been my favorite game series. I was wondering if anyone else out there shares my great appreciation for slimes, Loto and sirloin. Dragon Warrior Monsters got me into the series, but I have to say that DWIII has to be my favorite in the series, though I haven't had the opportunity to try out 5 or 6 yet.

I also love the DQ/DW series. My favorite right now is 5, although all of them are close in awesomeness; 5 just happens to be the last one i played. =) The second game was my favorite for a long time, but haven't played it in years. And I actually have a soft spot for the first game (even today, despite how "badly" it may have aged), since it was the first console-RPG i ever played.

Looking forward to 6 finally getting released for DS in the US (it should be soon, i'd think).

She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.
Urban Champion is GLORIOUS.

It's a tie between Dragon Warrior I and Dragon Warrior III on GBC. The first because it was more focused on exploration, the second because it had more personality and let you make your own party members a la Wizardry. I'm gonna be starting DQ8 soon, and I might get the remake of DQ4 tomorrow (the NES original was pretty boring, though).

What I really liked about III was how the overworld was modeled after the real world with certain cities being stereotypical of the ancient world. I remember the castle in "Italy" a colosseum and Africa being super Egyptian with pyramids everywhere.

3 was also my favorite in the series. Later games are probably "better"... but playing Dragon Warrior 3 back in the day left me totally satisfied. Seeing how far the game design had come since the original NES title was a real joy. I also liked how it was connected to the storyline of the first game, giving the series kind of an epic feel.

I've never played a dragon quest/dragon warrior game before but I just bought dragon warrior monsters for gbc on ebay. I've been buying a lot of old gb/gbc games lately.

Dragon Warrior Monsters is fantastic, too. I'd say I even liked it more than the original Pokemon.

Make sure you look for the other Dragon Warrior games for GBC. They're all fantastic, and certainly worth a play if you like DWM.

DWIII is a must get for the GBC. I always thought DWM was a deeper, more "realistic" monster catching game (considering that your monsters actually get killed and grow wild over time if you don't keep an eye on them). The breeding system was really great too, but catching monsters was nerve-wracking at times since it was never guaranteed, and unlike pokemon the meat you use to tame monsters actually got really expensive, but for me that only made it all the more the more engaging.
