Topic: Ever heard of oily analogue sticks?

A few months back I noticed that the analogue stick from my Gamecube controller had become oily. There was some strange sticky goop on it. I feared something in my cupboard was leaking, but the oily stuff was only on the analogue stick. Now the same happened with the analogue stick from the Wii's nunchuck. Brown/yellowish oil. This can't be healthy, nor can it be good if it gets inside the controllers. Has anyone experienced this before? And what the heck caused this? I wonder.

Do you eat greasy pizza?

Do you like videogames? If so, you must know
It's dangerous to go Alone.

Do you play with wet hands sometimes? The analogue sticks may be dirty and your fingers are lubricating them, resulting in a grease like liquid...

God first.

"Do you eat greasy pizza?"

Lol no! I never eat during gaming!

@VolcanoFlamesNL,

I never do gaming with wet or dirty hands. However, during gaming my hands become very sweaty. But both controllers weren't used for quite some time. And both were cleaned by me some time ago with kitchen-paper and alcoholic tissues (sure this can't be bad).

@Henmii it could also be your thumb that's a little bit dirty, but I guess you always wash your hands. I still say some kind of substance is involved...

And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

@ogo79,

Lol

But back on topic: I searched the internet and some PS3 owners did experience this too. Yeah, it may be the "oil" that keeps the analogue sticks moving smoothly after all. It shouldn't come out, of course. But for now I let this issue rest. Maybe I phone Nintendo someday about this matter.

Yeah, I always disinfect my controllers when I let my friends play with them. I just like to have my stuff be clean you know? I have no idea why your controllers would be oily.

Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)
