Topic: Xbox 360 ever going to make online free?

Seems like something they should do after looking at the competition's free online gameplay, i think microsoft knows more people will buy their console if they include it.

They probably know that, and I think that they will make more money yearly if they made it free, AND completely eliminated the RROD.

They need to make money off something, having lost sooo much on the 360. laughs to self

@RWiiP Seriously man, thing is the 360 would be a monster console with its balance of power, games, etc, if only they made the online free. Honestly, it is a great console, but the online sways people towards ps3's more today for their HD gaming

You don't make something free after you've already realized people will pay for it.

Nothing can touch Xbox Live and it's a steal at $50 a year.

It's not going to become free. I wish it would, but hey, it's a quality service and you get what you pay for.

They better or I'm not buying Microsoft anytime soon. Had they made the online free, when my grandmother suggested that I should get my brother's Xbox 360, I would have said "yes" that instant. But having to pay yearly just to play online is not worth it, plus we can't afford paying for online. She knew it was a bad idea to pay just to play online, this is why I'm getting a PS3 instead. Free online that will deliever even more then Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, and that's already pretty decent.

And if I am to buy one, they better eliminate RRoD too.

Yeah, I'd say $50 is a pretty good deal. It the price of a single game. It amounts to a hair over $4 a month. You can't even get a lunch at McDonalds for that price.

@SSB they fix the RRoD for free though, u dont pay for it, however it should never occur in the first place ur right.

And i agree with ur comment 100%, i think if it were free i may actually be looking towards a 360 since most my friends have it instead of a ps3 that im wishing for now lol

@DaDun: If it was free, I would be struggling between getting the Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3. It would be a difficult decision.

Then again, maybe not, since I always wanted a PS3 more then a Xbox 360.

I do not personally think it will happen as they have a lot of people paying for it and I know a lot of people that are happy to pay the 50 bucks a year as they get pretty much the best overall online experience from what everyone says. I cannot say anything about the PS3's online as I have never tried any online on a Sony console with the exception of my PS2.

True, but then I remember that I played Unreal Tournament (PC) and Unreal Tournament 2003 (PC) for a total of about 4 years and I realized that with one great game, I didn't need to spend $50 on another. Especially when it has huge online support (which is what you're getting with that $50).

I emailed Microsoft about this. The person who responded was really nice, but however did not have the information to give me the reason why we have to pay for online.

He was also sorry that I was unhappy about having to pay for online. At least it isn't some generic response that Nintendo gives to there customers.

As of now, no, we'll still have to pay for online.

K thanks for the heads up, i heard a rumor that ps3 online may have to start being paid for in the future too, i really hope that was just a rumor lol

Internet Channel? If they make it free, people would consider a 360. Like myself.
