As a fan of SNK I'm cautiously excited. But I truly hope that this is little more than a soft launch for a very niche product. Not unlike the release of the AES home version of the Neo Geo, low production numbers for the consoles and the games. Because when measured against Sony and Nintendo, any attempt at a global console launch will undoubtedly be met with disappointing sales.
By comparison, SNK has a fraction of the revenue that Sega has, and Sega doesn't dare launch a new console globally.

u can bai neo geo aes gaems on switch and dat is all dat matters.
Very true. To me, the Switch already feels like the successor to the NGPC thanks to all the Neo Geo games Hamster have been porting, minus the micro switches in the analog stick. Now I just need some physical copies of these digital-only ports (thanks to Dotemu for the Windjammers port and LRG for the physical release of that port) and the circle will be complete.

Hey, I'm up for it as long as it doesn't do what Sega did, and change up the line-up for the western version, so I wind up having to import the JP version just to get the good games...
We need to know more about it. I don't see much point in them releasing a box that just plays retro titles when so many of their most notable retro titles are easily purchasable on other very common platforms. And they already released a Neo-Geo Mini too. Is it going to be an official reproduction of the original Neo-Geo home console, perhaps just updated to work with modern televisions? I have to wonder if there is a market for that. I knew literally no one who actually owned one back in the day. Sure people wanted it, but it was so insanely pricey!
And I don't see how they could try an release a modern console either. Unless they are going to try and one up Sony and Microsoft and release before the PS5 and Xbox Banana 421 (because after the Xbox One who knows what they will call it). But even as I type this, I just don't think that plan has much hope either.
We just don't know enough about it.

@StarLord They will have to do something more than to keep up with Microsoft and Sony. If they intend to release a serious competitor it also needs to be different. It would need to offer something that Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo do not offer. In my opinion anyone other than those three companies, releasing a conventional console in the market today is doomed to fail from day one. Unless they offer something different. Nintendo has the hybrid design, Sony has native VR and Microsoft has the crossplay with PC and they all have a variety of exclusive titles (some more than others).
If Neo Geo wants to jump in the party, they need to offer something else. If you have a food court with pizza, hamburgers and hot dogs, you don't open another pizza restaurant.

I think it will be like the Mini, but a Normal sized one. With built-in games. I don't see them putting there a cartridge slot because, well, if someone can afford games can certainly afford the old console itself too, which is always cheaper than any game (and I talk from experience, having bought a Neo Geo AES 10 years ago and just 2 games for 25 € each and never being able to buy more because of the continued rise of the prices)... unless it supports HDMI and scales the image well, in which case giving cartridge owners the opportunity to insert them into this new model and play the games in modern screens without wanting to pull their own eyes out would be nice.
But I bet it's a model with built-in games. I don't know why you guys say it has no market, after seeing the tremendous success of NES and SNES Mini. Even the Neo Geo Mini sould well enough for them.
Mega Drive Mini having different games compared to Japan isn't a problem. We're not receiving bad ones certainly.
