@Haru17 Yup, it looks awesome. Granted it's a bit janky, but that's Monster Hunter
Alternate option to get around are always good. And you can ride a Palico too, right? If that's a legit option to get around faster you can count that one too.
@Octane I think it's just that Palicoes can ride smaller monsters. And yeah, the motion is just a little jerky with some things. I imagine that'll get smoothed out in the next game since they're coming from handheld where those little gaps and hit box nuances are imperceptible.
By the way, I think the 5 different loading screen icons are the different elder dragons from the story. Or just some other monsters of importance. For instance the cross/star that's in the tapestry art, one of the new armor sets we haven't matched to a monster yet, and the back of the glider mantle was one of those icons. It seems almost bug-like. Someone on Reddit even raised the possibility of World having a flagship besides Rathalos.
You can only take one palico on a quest now, to make up for them being able to communicate with and tame small monsters. There's also going to be a story justification for high rank, and they're tooting their own horn a bit about the "story" in general (if there is one series where the "stories in videogames are like stories in pornos" adage holds truest...).
@KirbyTheVampire Using the flies to search for clues seems more like actual hunting than just wandering aimlessly through areas until you stumble upon your target. Which worked fine in previous smaller maps, but could prove painful in World (and we also don't know if spawns are fixed).
Alone, a force. Together, a force of nature.

@meleebrawler I suppose so. I don't really have a problem with the mechanic itself, I just wish they implemented it in a way that wasn't so similar to a giant arrow pointing you in the direction of the monster. That's starting to get pretty nit-picky, though.
@Octane
Because the two are not even remotely the same. Fall damage is not comparable.
It would be like if Mario stopped saying "Wahooo!" Ittsa me! Mario" and started saying "Yo man, wassup, it's Mario"
The cooking jingle is part of the identity of the series. If you're not a fan, obviously you're just not going to care. But tell Mario fans that "Itsa me, Mario" has been changed because it wasn't appealing enough to a wide audience, or tell Fire Emblem fans the level up jingle is being changed... even if a game is attempting to appeal to a wider audience, that's the sort of thing that simply doesn't need to be changed, and serves no purpose other than to piss fans off.
When the game was first shown, people thought there was no cooking jingle at all... And were really upset about it. It's part of the series's identity.

I think the concept is the right solution. There's really no better way to tackle finding the monster I can think of. I just hate how overwhelming their presence is. Tone it down, ya know?
Usually they have good music. I expect nothing less than the same epic scores we've had in prior games.

....Anyone else think the battle themes in this game are very underwhelming?
Great Jagras was pretty quiet, but the Wildspire theme is incredible.
I only ever cook in bulk. It was a chore in Tri and I would have to listen to the same cheery chiptune over and over again. It was a godsend when they allowed you to cook 10 at a time in 4, I hope that returns along with transmogrification. In any case, I don't really care either way about cooking music like I don't go around wearing T-shirts with "Hey, Listen!" written on them. The dramatic treasure chest opening theme got taken out in Breath of the Wild and that wasn't what was wrong with that game. And this one isn't even removed, it's just a little different.
And you can just not gather the monster traces if you don't want to see scout flies, the effect doesn't swell until you've leveled them up. It'll just take forever to find the monster since we finally have decently complex levels.
@Joeynator3000 Actually watching footage and yeah, I have to agree. The Wastes theme has its moments, but overall the battle themes sound very indistinct and generic.

@Joeynator3000 What Khezu-level blind Playstation fanboy said that?
There are people on the sub seriously arguing that it's fine for Sony to block crossplay and are equating it to 1st party exclusives.
It's like Neogaf now.

Sony's just trying to get more money so they're being difficult in a variety of aspects.
I don't get why World is being held to a higher standard than any other Monster Hunter game or video game release at large though. Past games were either on a single platform or brand of platforms and couldn't play between different consoles, regions, or even releases of the same game. World is already allowing a global release and cross-region co-op though. That's more than any other Monster Hunter did, that's more than most games do.
