I decided to start this thread because I'm working on a new tabletop game. The thing is I'm waiting to reveal key information about the game, so I don't want to drop any major spoilers until the game is well into production - even the name is a massive spoiler on its own! So for now, I'll have to pull a 3DS on my game, but be warned...because Project Bananakinesis is really good! There's a lot of customisation in it, and the ideas that I've put into the story/ies, the characters, the game world, the gameplay...it borrows tiny inspirations from similar games but is wholly its own original concept. The reason I posted here first, apart from the fact that NL has one of the equal best discussion forums on the net, is because there''s enough in my game to make it a 'Tabletop Video Game'; in other words, a video game in paper form. Stay tuned for juicy tidbits!

I haven't created my own completely original game, but I have created some original expansions for some board games I have, namely the Settlers of Catan. I downloaded a free, printable expansion called the Settlers of New Catan which has the Settlers of Catan crash landing on a new planet, and meeting up with four new alien races. I invented an expansion called the Alien Invasion Expansion which has the Alien Races invading Catan and it combines all Catan Expansions (Settlers, Seafarers, Cities and Knights, Traders and Barbarian, and the Settlers of New Catan). It also introduces the concept of warring to the series. I've played it three or four times now, and it actually works pretty well. Though I know as much about your game as I do about the 3DS, it sounds like it will be pretty cool!!!! I look forward to seeing more posts about it in the future.

I created a psuedo-Fire Emblem board game by mixing the Risk board and UNO cards for HP. Up to six players, and each player gets three units. Combat is done by having the attacker roll two white dice while the defender rolls one red. If the two whites are greater in number than the single red, then the attacker rolls a third die which determines whether or not it is a critical hit. A 1 is critical, a 2-5 is normal, and a 6 is half, rounding up. For example, the attacker rolls an 8 and the defender rolls a 5. The critical die rolls a 2. The total damage is 3. Each person attacks for 2 turns or until one dies. Each unit has different HP values and can do out-of-battle commands. The soldier can heal others 10 HP, moves up to 8 spaces, and has 24 HP. The horseback can move two spaces more than normal (8 turns to 10) can has 30 HP. The cannoneer can engage enemies from 2 spaces away, moves up to 8 spaces, and has 40 HP. The victor is decided by either most HP total after 30 rounds or one team standing. It's basic, and I haven't played it for awhile, but it's fun and it works. If the Risk board is too complicated, a chess board or homemade board would be better.
