What is the difference between CCG and TCG?

As a child I played a lot of Pokemon TCG, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Magic the Gathering. I also played (but for not as long) Lord of the Rings TCG, Stargate SG-1 TCG, kingdom Hearts TCG, and the Dragon Ball Z TCG.

In the video game world you hear a lot about CCGs on smart phones. The only thing I have noticed is different is that CCGs normally let you upgrade your cards where in TCGs, al cards are static. Is there bigger differences? Are there really any differences or are they just two names for the same type of game?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

There are none. Magic, which was the original game in the genre, has been referred to by both terms ever since the 1990's.

EDIT: For those unaware, CCG means Collectible Card Game, while TCG means Trading Card Game.

CCG I thought was originally those Sega Arcade games.

There is no difference. TCG is a trademarked name I belive by Wizards of the Coast while CCG is the generic term. It's like Coke and cola or Kleenex and facial tissue, or Band-Aid and adhesive bandages.

Companies cannot call their games Trading Card Games without Hasbro taking them to court, even though they are TCGs so they call them Collectible Card Games.

I guess so - I thought there would be another term for a video game that is played using physical cards scanned in.

That sounds like a CCG, Arcade, Toys to Life, game.
