That sounds exciting! I'd consider picking up the original if it wasn't for the fact that it would likely cost me as much as the Switch version will!

The little bit I played of it reminded me of Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast. Is that a fair comparison?

I guess? Kinda like somewhere between that and FF XII is my best comparison.

(I can barely remember how PSO played anymore, it's been that long...)

These guys make the most interesting game worlds in all RPGs. The stories are quite interesting and original too.

Converted from Sony to Nintendo during 7th gen and never looked back.

I hope they keep the world just as interesting as Mira. Exploring it was one of the best parts of XCX, the delight of finding new, hidden places was fantastic - except when you found a Tyrant that killed you in one shot.

@Ernest_The_Crab Please be considerate to other users and use spoiler tags when disclosing plot details of games. If you don't know how to use them, just find another post where someone has used them and quote that post, you'll then be able to see how the tags are written. Thanks.

Use the 'ignore' button, it works.

Xenoblade X is profoundly good at making even a fairly typical cave into a glorious bit of exploration and fun just by being exploration. I honestly can't think of another game (barring the original) where I wanted to explore a place simply because it was there (though Elder Scrolls games are close)

Nuh-uh..the worst camouflaging /hiding enemies were the bloody Cantors. Those are just so..unsettling. When you don't notice them they give you a heart attack and the others make these weird clicking noises as you get close to them to lure you towards them. It doesn't work more than once because you'll try to avoid getting another heart attack as much as possible but that noise made me paranoid after a while (and until I was able to rip them a new one within seconds)

The bugs weren't that dangerous after a relatively short while and the mechs were visible from afar.
But walking around Sylvalum's mountain during a spore..storm (what was that called again?) was a death sentence for large parts of the game.

What a beautiful signature.

I was quite annoyed with Tectinsulas(?) that were halfway burrowed in ground in Noctilum. Making headway past them without having to fight them was a bother.

The tyrants though.... I remember a mission in Cauldros, where you had to defeat a Tyrant as part of a mission with the guy who challenges you for Frontier Map. That one was a pain, I had to keep the suff to repair the skell on hand and practically set the other characters as bait while I killed it.

When I finally got him on the third try, I was so happy though!

@kkslider5552000
That is mainly the reason why I want to try Skyrim when it releases on the Switch. I've never played it, but after XCX I was left craving more exploration in giant worlds. Zelda's is going to fix that in March, though.

Honestly I'd rather have them to into even more hardcore sci-fi settings and get my fix of fantasy by doing another Baten Kaitos but I guess I'll take it. I still wish for another BK entry somewhere down the line because it's the only RPG that I replayed more than three times.
Heck, even a port of BK Origins would be awesome on the switch.
Anyway, back to XC2, it gives me Skies of Arcadia vibes. I hope that there's an airship to pilot around whatever crazy world they come up with.

Luna_110

Yeah, but Baiten Kaitos doesn't depend on Monolith anymore, it depends on Namco just like Xenosaga. They renewed the IP ownership on 2015.

Kinda frustrating how the narrative has been twisted from "fans interest was piqued" into "tons of people hate the art style and it's generic JRPG schlock".

Hell hath no fury like an ex-fan.

I'm baffled by that. Like, Xenoblade's characters were 3d anime-y character models you'd see in a 3D JRPG. Like, maybe they relied less on the typical kinda cel shaded thing Tales of games use and none of the characters were under 18 (with one major exception in X), but otherwise, it's still JRPG anime stuff as much as anything.
