@kkslider5552000 Golf Story and Mario and Rabbids are both good picks.
I found the frisbee sections of Golf Story frustrating but they were few and far between. Mario & Rabbids seems to surprise most people though with how good it is. I really enjoyed it and I like strategy games, although I’ve not played X Com as a reference.
@JoeDiddley yea I'm a good 5 hours in. Visited a few town's, battled some bosses. Im starting to get the hang of it, and really like the characters. So far, I don't like them as much as ff7, but i like the setting more in ff9.
I’m about the same amount into Bravely Default now too. Getting the hang of it.
I’m also really drawn to Akihito Yoshida’s art style. Which makes me want to try other games he worked on like Final Fantasy Tactics and XII (they were on the list already, now they are higher up!)
@JoeDiddley I am considering tactics too. But I've never played a game like that. Xii is on my watch list on Amazon and once it drops to 25 or less I'm pulling the trigger. The one thing that confuses me is not having materia to equip like ff7 did. You apparently do get abilities that are automatically attached to your weapons? I'm not sure of this, maybe @BruceCM can help explain that to me.
@NintendoByNature When checking your weapon, you can see there's a bar with the skills, that bar will be filled with AP that you get from defeating random monsters (bosses too), and when it's full, you'll get the skill.
Sorry, which are you asking about, since you mention FFXII & Tactics, @NintendoByNature .... ? Technically, I've never played the original FFT, only War of the Lions, Tactics Advance & A2: Grimoire of the Rift
WotL had you earn JP which you could spend however you wished, while the other 2 had the abilities tied to weapons & you learned them by keeping those equipped until you'd got enough JP
FFXII has the license board, which is similar to the 1st of those but I'll explain more when you're actually going to play whichever game, to avoid confusion
Oh, well, that has a similar equipment based system, @NintendoByNature.... You'll see when equipping stuff what abilities they have
Whil equipped, your ap fill up the bar & when it's finished, you have that ability, so you can equip something with another one
@BruceCM ok thanks. I take a closer look tonight. Those jiggly puff save points tried explaining but they threw so much at you at one time it was hard to comprehend it all
@NintendoByNature oh yeah, do need to tell you that the passive skills (stuff like locomotive / jelly / auto-haste, etc) needs to be activated with a limited pool of points that can only be increased by leveling up.
@BruceCM Well, I finally decided to get over myself and returned to Ys. I just finished chapter three, I hope the story gets going soon. The combat is great but it's hard to take this game seriously ><
@BruceCM I mean, I don't mind silly stories, I just don't care enough about that one I guess.
Though I must admit I do enjoy the Dana parts more, I hope she'll join soon or something, and the great gameplay is enough to get me to the end I think.
I might start on another game while I'm working thru ff9. Not looking for a heavy in depth experience, just something light and easy. Considering Dragon Quest 1 or Phantasy Star IV( genesis classics collection). Let me know if anyone has played these yet and how they hold up.
DQIII is much better, if you want one of those, @NintendoByNature.... 1st DQ, you only have the hero It's quite grindy, even by the standards of the time it came out. II had a set party & improved the progression but III introduced the choosing party bit
