Tough to say for sure, whatever they had planned has probably changed. If the Mario remasters exist that would probably be the biggest thing they could come up with. But me? I'm preparing for no big game announcement for 2020. It could happen.

For the year? I doubt there'll be anything else as big as Animal Crossing this year. My guess is that Christmas is Bayonetta 3 and then some other mid-level first party thing alongside it, given that Bayo 3 doesn't have that wide an appeal.

I think next year will be huge though. Both Zelda and 3D Mario is my prediction.

Big or small doesn't matter for me as i am a different kind of gamer who is looking for different games.
Not even bothering with BOTW2 or any AAA titles except Animal Crossing New Horizons as my AAA on year 2020.
The smaller games that peoples not even bothering at them, some of them caught my attention instead.

When did they say that about September? I need to cling onto a smidgeon of hope lol.

There's absolutely no way that Sony and Microsoft have all the limelight this year with their new systems dropping in November. Nintendo will be dropping something BIG before Xmas. It's common sense rooted in precedence.

I hope it's the rumored Super Metroid remake or a Fusion remake. For the Switch.

@damien33ad This year is looking pretty bland from a Nintendo perspective so far. All they've released so far is Animal Crossing and Paper Mario. And all I've heard rumoured is Pikmin 3 deluxe and 3d Mario remastered. I've already played those games.

Wii U had better Nintendo support. I think if Bayonetta 3 was coming this year, we would have seen it by now. As it's not a Mario game that you can get away with shadow dropping 2 months out.

Nintendo is going to have something, there's no universe in which we don't get something for the holiday season. Remember guys, it's only the middle of July.

I agree with @Dezzy that Animal Crossing was probably the big Nintendo hit this year. But I'm sure the Holiday season will still see several decent releases. If Nintendo cannot get anything new due to the global situation - they could dig into their back catalog and dump a good helping of ports. Still several Wii U ports we could get. Or Nintendo could release some collections of older games.

I was going to say Mario Kart 9, but IDK if they have time to promote it. It might have been pushed back to 2021 (maybe in May? They usually seem to have their big Spring game in May). The way things are going, it might be the Mario remasters if they're real. If not, Nintendo might be in big trouble.

I echo a few above: Animal Crossing is the big release for 2020. I don’t think anything will top it saleswise. I could imagine a 3D Mario collection being the Christmas release, though. It would certainly get enough interest and sell enough copies to fill that schedule gap. More so than Bayo 3, which doesn’t have a wide enough appeal to be the key holiday release - though that doesn’t mean it won’t also come out in autumn/winter. It’ll be more of a bulking up of the schedule, like Xenoblade 2 coming out in December after Super Mario Odyssey in late October.

Personally I don't really care about the rumoured Mario remasters so I hope that's not Nintendo's only big release for the rest of the year. I mean it's not like there aren't already plenty of games to play on the Switch, but I'll be surprised if they don't have some other big game coming before Christmas. They did say that every game they planned to release this year is still on track for 2020 after all.

Two Mario titles of the rumoured collection and 3D World would certainly count as big holiday releases but earlier in the year my guess would have been BOTW 2, enough time has passed since the original to get a big chunk done and it's a game that would appeal to hardcore gamers so it could siphon off some of the new Xbox and PS buyers,

Personally I'd want Star Fox Guard 2!

@damien33ad Sorry for the pessimism. It's a habit after years of only owning a Wii U and anticipating Mother 3. It's turned my soul into a petrified forest.

I think there will be Nintendo releases, but I have reservations about what it might be. Weren't we definately getting a Metroid Prime trilogy on Switch awhile back? Now everybody is talking about a Mario collection. I really hope both are true, but it sounds like people getting hyped up without any actual confirmation.

I'm half expecting Nintendo to pull a Wii and basically stop releasing games for the next 3 years. I mean, the last two years of the Wii's life only had Kirby: Return to Dreamland and Zelda Skyward Sword release between Donkey Kong Country Returns and the Wii U's launch. If it wasn't for the Rainfall games finally coming over, that'd have been it, 2 notable titles in two years.

Were we, @Losermagnet ....? People keep saying they're keeping that for about 6 months before MP4 finally comes out & I haven't heard much about those for awhile

@BruceCM [ does Seinfeld voice ] who are these people? And why do they keep saying that?

Seriously though, maybe that was the case with the Prime collection. I can't keep track lol. However, if it exists why hold on to it indefinitely for another games release? I don't think they need that much help building hype.

Heh, you'd have to ask the experts, @Losermagnet ... Never got into Metroid or MP, despite being into some Metroidvanias, so it's not high on my list, either! Just there seem to be quite a few people very keen for the games & MP4 was promised a long time ago, so it'd be good to hear more about it

@BruceCM it would be nice to hear about it. I wish Nintendo would simply say, "look, the unexpected happened and our roadmap has changed, but this is what we're going to try and do". Their strategy of not announcing things until their release window is in sight may be causing more harm than good when people are this starved for news.

Yep, @Losermagnet ... I'm sure most of us would understand a vague 'we're hoping to release BotW next Spring' sort of announcement! They didn't mind announcing SMT III & V in those sorts of ways
