I have a collection of almost 200 switch games. Probably more than half physical and the rest digital downloads. I keep running out of space on my sd cards. I kinda hate having to leave some games un installed due to lack of space. I recently got a 400 gig card thinking that would solve my problem but nope. Still can't get everything on one card.
Am i crazy trying to keep everything in my collection on one big card? To me it would be just way more convenient to have it all ready to go without constantly swapping sd cards to play something else.
I'm tempted to go for a 1 or 2 TB and surely that should solve my problem but the cost of those things is usually more than a new game itself.
How is yours setup? Do you split games between cards or just grab the most enormous sd card you can buy and put your whole collection on one card?
1tb microsd Sandisk the route to go for it's price it can't be had they do have a 1.5tb but I would use that on the Switch 2. And get Cloud subscription to back your games that allow cloud saves. The cost of the 1/1.5 and upcoming 2tb will more then make for the amount of game cost especially if your games are mostly Digital.
I use 1.5 TB microSD cards. I have three of them full of digital games on Switch, and three full of digital games on Steamdeck (though I have 9 TB of games on my desktop).
Soon as the 2TB cards release I'm upgrading. I advise you to do the same. Buy the biggest card you can afford.

While I do like the idea of having every game on my Switch at once...is it necessary? Not really. My SD card is full of games which I haven't played in years and might never pick up again. I think I just like seeing it all there, and luckily when you archive a game the icon is still there and looks the same. It gives the impression that you have a full collection.
If you have the funds then go for a 1/2TB card, but I'd just make the most of the archive feature. If a game is big, keep it on there permanently. But most first party games are only a few gigabytes and easily to redownload.
Save the cash and buy another game!
Yeah i guess i shouldn't be so set on trying to have every game on there all at once. I also have a PS5 and with the size of those games there's no way in hell you could have all your games on one hard drive.

That's a Apple vs Orange comparisons and doesn't match here at all. If one fails to know why the Switch is a success then trying to dismiss Switch games rings hollow at best here.
@SwitchForce I don't get what you mean, Switch uses Micro Sd which is much more expensive than memory on other systems.
I got the 1TB SSD expansion for my xbox much cheaper than 1TB micro SD would cost for Switch - as a result I buy less on Switch
@Chaotic_Neutral I'd never actually considered the comparison with the XBox expansion and a micro SD. I've seen the Xbox Expansion drive heavily criticised for being too expensive, but rarely hear anyone complain about micro SD prices. Quick check on Amazon suggest the SD is a fair bit cheaper at the moment though - although SD prices to tend to come down pretty quickly as higher capacities are released.
My 400GB card is very close to full (about 15GB left, but I can make some room by deleting some demos), but the overwhelming majority of my library is physical, and most of my downloaded games are on the small side (Resident Evil Revelations 2 is the biggest by a significant margin).
If you intend to keep going physical, then I think a 512GB card (or similar) will suffice until the end of the Switch's life, but for the next hardware, I 100% intend on grabbing a 1TB card (or even 2TB) on day one, as about 400GB of that space is already going to last gen patches/downloads, assuming that the next console will be backwards compatible.

I don't think so at all. My rule is that if I have paid for it, it's not going to be deleted for any reason (even the tiny minority of really crap stuff), and I don't want to split up my library between multiple microSD cards when I can just upgrade and use the microSD for another purpose/device.
I have 64 GB SD cart for my Switch. My library is physical mostly (I have 22 game cards), a few digital games (Panzer Dragoon, Mortal Shell, Hollow Knight, Crypt of the NecroDancer) and a few demos. I still have free 23,5 GB. I use my Switch as a second and portable-only console, so it should be enough before Switch 2 release.

You're not. I'm the same. I have 4TB HDD on PS5 for all of my PS4 games
When it comes to microSD purchases, the best time tends to be Black Friday deals, where NAND flash storage in general reaches historic lows and sets the curve for future pricing. Outside of that, there's also Amazon Prime Day sales.
As for microSD performance, the Switch's microSD slot isn't high enough performance to maximise the capabilities of higher-end speeds like SanDisk Extreme or Extreme Pro.
The officially licensed Nintendo microSD cards by SanDisk are actually higher price and lower performance.

Even with a mostly physical collection, you'll still find digital storage space being lost to game updates. Some of them can get really big, and depending on the title might actually store the entire game data as opposed to just patching in the necessary data.
