Out of pure boredom, I felt like making this thread. Let's face it, a new Super Mario Maker for the Switch is gonna happen...EVENTUALLY. Considering that we still don't have it, chances are it'll be an expansion/sequel of some sort. I have too many ideas that I want this to have, anyways talk away!.........After I post what I want to see here.

1. SLOPES! (and a few other stuff) - Honestly I don't care TOO much about slopes, it would be nice, though. I would like to have the ability to place bodies of water and/or lava whenever I want. Remember all those lava caves in World and sometimes you're even riding a...erm, "skull train?" across lava? I wanted to make some like those but...oh wellz.

2. Bigger Levels - We can already create some decently sized levels, but maybe have the length of the levels a bit longer. Some Super Mario World levels I wanted to recreate didn't come out just right because I ran out of space. Also I'd like to have the ability to make tall stages, maybe an option before making the level?

3. More Sub-Levels - I was glad that sub-levels were happening, but...we're limited to just one. It's not that bad, but maybe an extra sub or two wouldn't hurt, maybe additional subs have to smaller or something.

4. Campaign Creator - This one is pushing it, but being able to create our own world map RPG-Maker style or grouping levels together if you go the SMB route. Basically being able to create your own Mario game, also if this ever happens then maybe we'll be able to put in hidden secondary goals in our levels. Speaking of goals...

5. More Control Over Goals - Regardless of the theme, the goal is ALWAYS at the end, and you can't really do much with it. The most you could do I believe is have the Axe vanish with a Magikoopa on the Castle theme. Would like to have more control over the goals, placing them wherever we want and maybe combining them with enemies/items to change them up some. Maybe combine one with a Boo to create a fake goal, or give one wings to make it fly like that Great Goal Pole level from 3D World.

That's basically what's on my mind, a Super Mario Maker game that'll never happen. Maybe some of the stuff here will happen, who knows, what you guys think?

P.S: If and when the game does get announced I'll change the name then, like I said I was bored and started thinking about a sequel/expansion/whatever. lol

@Joeynator3000 I certainly hope we will get an expansion/sequel or upgraded port of this game. I really like it.

I pretty much agree with all your suggestions too. I particularly like the idea of creating campaigns/worlds. In addition, I would like to be able to create vertical levels, have multiple exits, and have more playable characters. I would really like to see: Mario, Peach, Luigi, Toad(and multiple colors), Rosalina and even Nabbit. I know they didn't exits in the older games, but come on, Nintendo totally could make it happen. It would also be nice to have more textures for the basic tile sets and backgrounds, just simple reskins to add more visual variety.

Oh yeah, more power up options too. I'd love to see almost every power up from most major 2D Mario games.

Super Mario maker 2 please Nintendo! With all the content of the original plus loads of extras. This will be a day one for me.

To be honest even if they just release this as a slightly enhanced port of the original game I would still buy it. This isn’t like me, but the game has unlimited user created content and I would love to have this on my Switch.

This would be a day one purchase for me as never had it on Wii U, but I would never make my own levels just play others, maybe give people an option of a cut down version. A la RPG-maker, only pay I dunno £5 so you can play other peoples games or pay full price for the creator.
I would still buy the full version if that was the only option though (don't tell Nintendo I said that )

Ideas for Mario Maker 2:

New skins: Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Land, Wario Land, and Super Mario 64.
New themes: First and foremost Desert and Ice.
New modes: Co-op Multiplayer
New objects: Pool of Water, Tons of New Enemies, Baby Yoshis.

Also, a shout out for Super WARIO Maker 2!!
Erm.. I mean, a WarioWare D.I.Y. sequel. It's my favourite and most-played DS game.
So, let's not forget people are waiting for a sequel of this unique masterpiece as well.

Anti-Matter

1. Ability to pick up enemies, pick up Turnips from the ground, etc like on Super Mario Bros 2.

2. Using a Life Bar like Super Mario Bros 2

3. Tools ability like on other 2D platformer such as Parachute to glide, Pogo stick to high jump, Mole claws for digging, etc. (Oops... Hints from Punky Skunk PS1) 😅

4. Alternative costumes for each characters, so there will be Samurai Mario / Golfer Mario / N64 style Mario like Super Mario Odyssey.

5. Different kinds of music style to be chosen. Imagine playing Super Mario Maker with same song but in different style such as Jazz / Rock / 8 bit / etc.

6. Share & Download the course Option.

7. Day / Night Option.

8. Add with some Vertical platformer aspect such as Whomp 'Em NES / Super Mario Bros 2.

9. Completely New Bosses. Not the Bowser CS typical. And the way to beat each Bosses are different each other, not just stomp on their heads 3 times.

10. Better the game will be in 2.5 D style like Yoshi Woolly World.

@Anti-Matter Aren't you describing your wishes for a new general 2D Mario here instead of a new Mario Maker? You're putting in a lot of requests not currently present in an existing 2D Mario game.

It could be Nintendo will release a New Super Mario Maker with better features than Wii U version.
I was thinking 2D platformer Mario is usually going from Left to the Right, except Mario Bros 2 with Vertical platforming. If players given by opportunity with Vertical platforming, they will able to create more challenging course.

My wish is to understand how this would work in docked mode. Using the control stick would take way too long and if you have a shaky hand, motion controls would be awful.

If this did happen, I'd prefer 3D Mario Maker or Mario Kart Maker. For me personally, these two have more freedom than just a 2D platformer.

All I want is everything @Joeynator3000 alread mentioned, along with co-op.
Well, theres one more thing. Full on new characters!

So, they work like the ?mushrooms from the Wii U version, but they are all unlocked from the start or are unlocked in a campaign of sorts. You can also choose to make that ability unlosable while editing a level and just make it so they have a 3 hit healthbar. They would also have the control scheme from their respective series.

For example of what I mean, you can play as Luigi and have Luigis physics he normally has. Same woud go for Peach and Toad. Todette can just become peachette with a super leaf, and nabbit could be like nabbit. However, some of the characters would be out of the blue. For example, Wario could finnaly make a full on playable appearence in a main line 2D maio game once again, or Kirby can be a playable charachter based off how he works in Super Star on the SNES. There could also be a "Smash" Mario where Mario has his moveset (and controls) from Super Smash Bros. Heck, Mega Man and Sonic could be playable!

I can see this opening so many new possibilities for anyone who enjoys these characters games, even if their respective parent companies won't make their own "maker" game. Please @ me to tell me what you think of my idea please. I'm looking for feedback on this.

To be honest, locking it behind NSO would probably reduce the amount of garbage levels that get shared.
