Topic: Pokken Tournament DX

Oh c'mon, there's no thread for this game?! I guess there's a thread for the Wii U version, but still. Anyways, I am hyped. Pokken is one of my favorite Wii U games, and having it on the go and not having to bust out my Wii U if I want to play is so great. Plus, I was waiting to play as the new characters that were added into the arcade version.

Also, does anyone know when the demo will be out today? The tweet from Nintendo said 12:00 AM EST, but I checked today and there was nothing.

Very glad Pokkén is coming to Switch, because Nintendo were so half-hearted about the Wii U version that it seemed as if they would just let it die for no reason. Like, why do they think a Pokémon fighting game could do anything but sell?

I'm not actually too fussed about new characters, because I pretty much just stick to Gardevoir. Still, maybe one of them will click with me. And in any case, new content is always good for keeping a game healthy.

@Zyrac It definitely seemed that Nintendo just gave up on it immediately after it released. They didn't add in new characters as DLC and didn't even release balance patches.

I'm only excited for the new characters because most of the original characters didn't click with me, so I never really mained anyone. The closest I got to maining someone was with Blaziken, who I wasn't great with, but who did the job.

@Nintendoer They did patch out Shadow Mewtwo's initial blockstun infinite and the game did receive one major patch. After that they definitely moved focus to the Switch, though.

I wish Sawk is playable, not being a Cameo.
Sawk is the only Handsome Karate Pokemon that I had a crush with him...

Limited to 15 rounds in the demo wtf Nintendo, poor showing indeed, shows a lack of faith in their game for me...

@ICISAZEL You can delete the demo and reinstall to reset the plays and what lack of faith? The fact that they are porting it in the first place means that they see merit in the game. Otherwise they would have let it die on the wiiu.

It called DEMO, NOT a FULL Game.

If anything, a demo limit suggests they have a lot of faith in the product and are worried you will play the demo forever instead of paying.

Why do people get so worked up about this practice anyway? Sure, it's hardly necessary, but are you really going to spend that much time on a demo? At least complaining about this makes more sense than being mad that you can't play a short demo of a single-player 3DS game more than 30 times...

I enjoyed the game on Wii U but I don't know if I would buy it again. The extra arcade characters and battle mode are great but apart from that the game seems to be the same, even the intro video is the same apart from the logo! It's a little disappointing that they have only added one stage though, and the two new support pokemon are probably just so Decidueye isn't the only Alola pokemon featured.
But to be honest I'm probably not the target audience for this but I'm sure people that missed this on Wii U will love it!

... And @Anti-Matter since when was Sawk handsome!? Then again I've never had a thing for guys with one eyebrow that is also their nose

I was ready for a disappointment playing the demo when I saw only Pikachu and Charizard available... but wait, there was third, Empoleon!

The demo is limited, you can play 15 matches of single and multiplayer battles.

Wow, the demo is really boring, and honestly might make me hold off on this game and get DB Xenoverse 2 instead.

If anyone wants more than 15 matches, you can just reinstall. All I needed was to see how it feels on the Switch, and it's just fine. Nice Charizard was there, he was my main on Wii U.

Also, it might just be that I'm used to Street Fighter V, but the grab range in this game is insane. I know it was like that in Wii U, but it just never clicked with me then.

Edit: I've no idea why, but I really want to see Pinsir playable in this game.

@BigYellow Pinsir's body type is a bit too angular to be smooth in a fighting game in my opinion.

@Nintendoer Probably, he'd look funny trying to punch with his little scrawny arms too. I'd just love to see him do a Zangief style suplex with his pinsers. Either way, Gen 1 has enough represention. Maybe a Gen 5 or Alola-Forme Pokémon instead.

@BigYellow I'd love to see Alolan Marowak in Pokken.

@Nintendoer Same, I think Muk would be cool too, although maybe Garbodor would make more sense just to have a Gen 5 Mon. I prefer Garb, but I think you could do more with Muk.

This may not be news for arcade players, but Charizard can now charge his neutral Strong Attack (the tail uppercut).

Empoleon is cool, but like Idk if I think he is bad or just feels weird lol. Either way I'm pretty pumped and I want to try and main Scizor. Hope Nintendo supports the game and hopefully gives it a longer championship series; something like capcom cup would be awesome. Would give newbies, like myself, something to watch and mimic. Say if there is a really strong Scizor player, I could look up to him and try to implement things he does into my style of play. So I really hope there will be a circuit like Capcom Cup for Pokken Tournament DX.
