Good thing I didn't start this up on the Gamecube again, as I've been contemplating doing so for a while. I will definitely wait out and get the remastered version on Switch.

I'm mostly excited for other people who have never played this game before. It's undoubtedly one of the best games on the Gamecube, and still holds up today.

Origami King absolutely rocks, and I will defend it to the ends of the earth.

I am stoked to play Thousand Year Door, though - I never owned a Gamecube.

the funny thing about this is that this announcement immediately makes Origami King a more appealing game to me. Simply because its now not being used as the entire replacement for two different Mario RPG series I liked.

It is much easier to take a game on its own merits when it isn't being used to not give you games you would want significantly more (see also: Super Mario 3D World and Metroid Prime: Federation Force).

I'd think that Origami King and TTYD are games so different from each other that people probably wouldn't even try to compare them were it not for the fact that they're in the same series.

Variety is the spice of life, I suppose, so it's good to have both. I can now start cheering for Super and Color Splash to get a second bite at the cherry sometime, because they're both very different games too and would very much deserve it.

Sticker Star can remain stuck on the 3DS for a while longer though.

No, they compare them because one of them has been dead for 15-20 years (depending on if you count Super Paper Mario or not), and the other replaced it, by starting with a game no one likes, while letting the only similar sub-series die a death on 3DS for no good reason.

I mean, I like the Divine Beasts in BOTW, but I get why people who like unique aesthetic designs for areas and the pros of linear game design and the dungeons and entire story not being a footnote in a game...don't.

I actually do hope Nintendo does realize that there's a middle ground between "let's kill the RPG part of Mario RPGs forever" and "Origami King has zero value". I mean TTYD is not even my favorite, you can absolutely change and improve on it, but also not entirely rely on trying to make "Sticker Star again but maybe good".

the original Paper Mario game for the Nintendo64 years ago, im wondering what the game players thought of the game back then?

@XandertheWise Sadly I didn't really live in an area with a lot of pawn shops at the time, at least where somewhat decent electronics are involved. The closest equivalent where I live these days is GameStop, though I've heard there's a secondhand shop a bit farther away that occasionally carries retro games and consoles.

Decided to skim through the OST and, seems like it's a new track entirely.
