@DefHalan Maybe, I certainly don't think it would've been a million seller, it would've been nice though. I think that's something that Nintendo should've opted to do; get some deals sorted out for ''easy'' third party support. Of course, I don't know whether Sony has a deal with Sega regarding the Valkyria Chronicles franchise, but that may also explain the situation.

But it won't replace the Wii U

Yeah but by the time the GC and XBox launched it also had a software advantage. So it was a combination of factors that pushed it ahead of the pack. All I was saying was that saying the PS2 won purely because of the hardware would be false. Because it also had a far better library of games then its competitors. Its software sold the hardware.

Anyways, I think the time when optical media playback mattered is behind us. The XBOne S and PS Neo can do 4K Blu-Ray playback, so what? Who cares! It'll be content that'll decide whether or not the NX will be able to compete not the list of features.

@skywake I think it depends on how mainstream 4K TVs become by the time the NX launches. The progression of TVs have always been a factor in home console sales as all home consoles except the Wii U needs a TV to work.

@skywake Agreed Mr Wake. Another thing that often gets over looked is Sony made gaming cool with the masses. If anyone remembers gaming in the 80's and early 90's, it was nerdy, geeky and you got bullied for being in the computer club. The Playstation had Soundgarden and Chemical Brothers in their games! They had movies in their games (grrrr). They had content in their games that a broader audience could relate. That broader audience (that didn't really play video games until then) liked sports and action and effects. They get that now with their games and they sell millions! The games for video gamers are still made but sell a lot less and are seen as niche now. Once upon a time, the entire industry was niche. The PS2 was a great example of how to expand when you are winning. Give your audience what they are craving - entertainment. The DvD player was as much a no brainer as a CD player in their previous console. However, if that was the reason for it's success, then the BluRay player in PS3 should have mopped up. (Mind you, I guess unlike DvD, BluRay was competing with HDDvD).

This is great news and gives me a new sense of hope

@Nintendriat Don't forget though that CD Projekt Red has that card game in development (the one that's kind of like Hearthstone), NX could end up with just that game which would fit Nintendo's approach of targeting smartphone/tablet owners.

@Grumblevolcano NX would be getting it 9 months late. I wonder if it will be able to keep popularity for that long. Seems like Hearthstone rip offs were all the craze this year lol

I'm sure that the new system handles Zelda best. Which means it'll provide for great games beyond the bite sized experiences.
