Hey !

I've got the console since 3 days, and the only way to me to plug in to a bigger screen is my computer screen with a VGA output. I've got an adapter VGA -> HDMI. But when I put my nintendo into the dock, I've got a black screen on my switch and my monitor.

Can you probably help me ?

PS : My monitor work well with my laptop + adapter

@Poupzo What resolution do you have your monitor set to? Make sure it is either 720p or 1080p to be absolutely sure it is a resolution that the Switch supports.

Have you tried the VGA to HDMI adapter on other consoles?

Thank you both of you to aswer me.

I've got a resolution of 1440*900, it's the problem ?

I don't have any consoles so, I can't check that. But I've got 2 adapters and neither of the two work.

@Poupzo that could indeed be the problem. Are you able to enter advanced settings or something like that in your VGA monitor to force a 720p (or anything close) resolution? You can sometimes find a setting like that somewhere hidden in the menus.

@toiletduck I can change my resolution by passing through my laptop, but not with the menus of my monitor.
And when I have the black screen I can't touch to any buttons of my screen.

@Poupzo no option to enter a menu with a button on the side of or under the screen when nothing is attached to the monitor?

Here's the problem already. And since you give no Spec on the display no one is going to be able to know what is going on. It should be 1920x1080 at least. That resolution you have isn't compatible with Switch. Maybe you should try to test on another that has the right 1080.

Shouldn't it be an HDMI to VGA adapter and not a VGA to HDMI adapter? The idea is to convert the HDMI signal to VGA, not to convert the VGA signal to HDMI.

@SwitchForce Sorry, you're right. My screen is an old screen : SENSY DTE LCD19BAL-W 19 I don't know what informations you want. For the moment, I don't have any mean to test it to an other place, with another device.

@Crono1973 You are probably right. But where I have buy my adapter there are comments that said it work for us, so I don't know :/

I am not sure either just thought I would throw it out there.

I would contact their Seller about the adapter as well but I do think your resolution plays a part as the output of the Switch is 1080 and if it doesn't match that could be a problem. Unless you can test it on another TV that is 1080 with the adapter you won't know where the problem really is.

@SwitchForce Thanks, so yeah, I really think my monitor is very too old, I'll test my switch on another screen in few weeks, that probably work. I will tell you the result
