Crap...

I'm way out in the Desert area now, at the first save point in the dunes. Factory is a ways away.

Is this something where like, it's absolutely worth it, drop what you're doing and go, or is it something I can quickly rectify by purchasing a weapon from a shop or something to make up for it.

Hm without spoiling it's a unique weapon and has something to do with your gear from the tutorial. Don't drop anything for it, you will come around to there again via main story progress anyway. There is a lot of backtracking in the world.

Only a few hours in, but I did play this game a bit on PS4 and I have to say, at least so far, I'm impressed with how this port looks and runs. Hoping that holds up the later I get into the game.

Found a good beginner's tips video

@XenoShaun
I decided to go back. Funny thing is, I had actually gone back to the factory earlier by accident and was literally right there and didn't see the weapon. I got it now though, and the items.

@Gamer83
I watched a vid that showed one or two spots in the late game with some frame dips, but overall they were pretty isolated.

Are there alot of missables in this game like weapons or upgrades that you only have one chance to get?

Okay cool! I'm a severe completionist and i get completion anxiety hardcore if i leave anything unfinished. I hate when games lock you out of stuff.

Ok, found the ideal control scheme.

ZL: Evade
ZR: Shoot
R: Reset Camera
R3: Lock-On

That's it. That's where the money is. This should be the default control scheme.

I'm really enjoying the game btw. Just made it to the Amusement Park and took out a boss, and am now in some machine village in a tree. I'm so glad this game came to Switch, because I just couldn't get into it on a tv-tethered console before. And as a result I gave up before it ever really got its hooks into me.

I still wouldn't go so far as to say I like it more than Bayonetta, but it's certainly up there. It's fantastic.

I checked some videos before buying. I know Digital Foundry gets a lot of hate but I actually like their analysis and they were pretty positive on this port so i figured I'd give it a chance. Making progress and still not noticing any horrendous dips in performance.

Also realize, I should've played this game much more back in 2017, the combat is as fun and satisfying as a game can get. Maybe not quite Bayonetta level but damn close and has a more intriguing story. I'm starting to understand why a lot of other gamers I talk to consider this Platinum's best game.

@Gamer83
I've always appreciated the value Digital Foundry analysis offers to us gamers (let's be honest- a fair number of Switch ports are underwhelming and we need a way to separate the wheat from the chaff), I just hate the culture that's been created as a result. It's not their fault. It's just trolls and fanboys who like to use it to nitpick any little thing they can use as console war Ammo.

But ya, it's great when you find the quality Switch releases that really shine on the platform. Stuff like Nier Automata, Sniper Elite 4, Zombie Army 4, the upcoming Persona 5 Royal, Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Bayonetta 3, and judging by what we've seen, Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core. Nothing beats a well-developed Switch game that doesn't have major performance issues and maintains a solid resolution.

Looking forward to getting there eventually. I take forever with these kind of games, though, I get too caught up in the side stuff.

I just got bombarded with side Quests. Red markers all over the map. Just fought a giant Guardian again. Awesome stuff.

I love the skills and min-maxing to get the most. Evade Distance +80%, Drop Rate +40%, 2 Seconds Invulnerable After Hit, all kinds of good stuff. Reminds me of Monster Hunter skills- not exactly the same, but equally addictive.

I'm currently using a Movement Speed +8% which is the best I've got at the moment. Every increase becomes exponentially more expensive by 2^x but ya, love my quality of life and comfort skills.

Already upgraded the Virtuous Contract to Lv 3, and Virtuous Treaty and Fang of the Twins to Lv 2. Haven't been able to upgrade the Pod yet. Not nearly enough materials. I do have a ton of chip storage though. Bought expansions to get it to hold 96 now. Currently using 95/96. Aside from the basics, also have Shock Wave +1, Anti-Chain Damage +3, Damage Absorb +3, Evade Range Up +4, EXP Gain Up +2, Auto-Use Item +3, Drop Rate Up +3 and Moving Speed Up +2.

Game is 🔥

Already Up to 112 chip storage. Dang near maxed out, just gotta focus on fusing better skills now. I may need to put Mario Rabbids, Persona 5 Royal and Bayonetta 3 on hold for a few extra weeks to finish this game. Then again, accounting for multiple playthroughs, I may need to break this one up piecemeal, maybe do Bayonetta, Persona 5 Royal, which by then Fire Emblem Engage will be out so that one too, then come back to this and Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. Maybe do Mario Rabbids next year when the lineup lightens up a bit.

Too many games, not enough time.

How many hours for a first playthrough?

Do you know how I can change costumes? The Switch version came with some and I downloaded, but don't know how to switch.

Wow, I'm so hooked on this game.

Just about to head to the Forest Area. Did some more side Quests, found the body of a fallen YorHa soldier which I was kinda surprised I was able to do, cause it was very well hidden. Got a VERY nice Melee Defense +6 chip (30% Defense) to go along with a new Heal chip that gives me 2.4% HP every second after 6 seconds of no damage, and another that restores 30% HP with every kill. Upgraded all my weapons to Level 3 now also, and found a new pod...

Things are rockin and rollin

Hey guys i got a question. I've got nier automata for switch on it's way in the mail and I'm debating getting nier replicant and possibly playing that one first. Is that game what you would call a drag? Will i just be bored with it or lose interest halfway through?

Is it kinda like the witcher 3 or Skyrim where you can jump right in and not really have to play the previous games?

I didn't like Replicant. Played it twice. Once on PC, then a year later started a new save on Steamdeck. Both times I dropped it after an hr or two.

Idk. To be fair, I also dropped Automata initially, but that wasn't because I didn't like it, but rather because it wasn't hybrid and I struggle to stay invested in tv-tethered games. Replicant was different. It just wasn't doing it for me.

Though to be fair, after Automata I may give it another shot. Maybe now after understanding the appeal of Automata I'll better enjoy Replicant.

I've been playing some hours now. The game is fun to play, the story has been good so far and the image quality is very crisp (1080p which is higher resolution than the ps4 version) but I wouldn't rate it as high as Xenoblade 3 at this point despite what metacritic says. Then again, I haven't finished it yet + I've heard several endings are required for full appreciation.

P.S. 2b:s default design is pretty embarrassing. I feel like I'm staring at her naked butt too often. Thankfully, the free dlc contains an additional outfit which actually covers that part. Too bad it doesn't show in the cutscenes.
