@shaneoh for me it depends on the title. Would I buy mass effect or bio shock again just for portability? No
Would I buy dark souls, skyrim, or doom again for portability?
Yes

My suggestion for Nintendo as a Lady Gaga fan... more Gaga.

QUEEN OF SASS

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

Some HD of older ports do become successful. Persona 4 Golden and FFX, both originally PS2 titles, were among the biggest sellers for the Vita (and the former is often argued to be the best Vita title period, though not a sentiment I hold).

Personally, I wish Nintendo would outsource work to third parties to begin porting more of the better received, older 1st party Ninty games that didn't sell as well as they perhaps should have. Super Mario Sunshine, F-zero, Yoshi's Woolly World, etc.

If a trusted third party did the work then it wouldn't mean a stretch on Nintendo's resources and time to make new, original software.

I most DEFINITELY think the latest GTA should hit the Switch. The game is still in the top 10 UK charts after being out for, what, 2-3 years now?! Portable GTAs were among the best Sony PSP titles in the west, and one of the reasons a lot of people didn't buy a Vita was because of no true 3D GTA title.

That, and the fact that there's never been a GTA game on a Nintendo (as far as I'm aware) means there's potentially another market, the Nintendo die-hard market, that would be willing to try out the series for the first time. And even those who own the game already might be inclined to buy again merely for the portability.

One game though that am really excited about and waiting for its release date is dark souls 3 , the game is running on the switch already just waiting for the managment to give the GO

@Ryu_Niiyama sadly the switch comes at times of disadvantage , thanks to Wii U , when i joined the game industry back in 2010 people were excited to develop for nintendo consoles and i remember how people basicly wanted to start development for the 3ds but now...... Sadly people are much less excited wii u has been terrible , every dev now waits for financial results before developing for the switch , the point is , the switch can will get AAA 3rd party games but continous support depends mainly on how much units are shifted

@mahmoodinho98 While I am not giving the WiiU a free pass, the 3rd party situation isn't new...and doesn't have as much to do with hardware as it has to do with gamer media/culture, developer laziness and publisher greed. The shuttering of many lower tier but consistent devs/publishers hasn't helped either.

@Pigeon Take a look at the game at the top of metacritic's highest rated DS games of all time.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

@Ryu_Niiyama boy i hate it when we are called lazy , were not. Our work is always under rated and were never appreciated enough , we work long long hours to get ganes ready and up and running and then we get called lazy because we make a mistake in a game that has 700,000 lines of code. Wii U failure is all nintendos fault and you know why??? Cause it was never developer friendly nor it was cost effective to release on it. During initial development nintendo changed the sdk 3 times ...3 times. Support during development was weak and simply we didnt have an api to help us harness all its power but what truly truly killed wii u wasnt its power but it was nintendos hardcore gamers they complained so much about how lazy we we were and how we make dirty ports but ask yourself a question how much effort will i put on a console that its owners are not gonna bother to buy my game. For example , assassin's Creed black flag came out on all major consoles yet nintendo owners had the choice to buy it on wii u or buy it on xbox one and ps4 , they went for later and only a few bought it on wii u saying that not enough effort was put on the game

@mahmoodinho98 Late ports, poor optimization state otherwise. PS3 was stated to not be dev friendly either, yet devs still got games (some horribly broken) released on the system. Black flag was a late port that didn't have content parity with the other consoles. Were WiiU owners supposed to run out and buy Watch Dogs a year late as well? OR how about ME3 when it was missing DLC and the trilogy came out shortly after? If you release games that are buggy, late, and with less content then the other systems why would someone spend their hard earned money on your game? Gaming is a luxury hobby and one with a myriad of choices. Why should I waste money on a bad product, and have to be told that the reason it was made that way was my fault for not buying. Speaking of which, what games have you worked on?

I'm not dismissing the work that devs have to do; I'm not a game dev but I am a SQL dev and I have some friends that went into the gaming industry so I recognize hard work and a quality product. I also recognize shoddy games that are poorly optimized yet billed at full price without any ongoing support. Your comment has done absolutely nothing to change my stance.

@Ryu_Niiyama
yes because Wii U was a mess as i said , let me tell you what happened with wii u , we recieved 3 different dev kits less than a year before launch , thats okay cause porting isnt a problem the problem was that most engines had a terrible or broken support with alot of crucial features working terribly, we finally had our engine up and running and now we had to port to Wii U which was 4 month before its launch and when we got the game up and running ... guess what... A NEW DEV KIT. Wii U was horrible and its GPU was a troublesome because it was simply too old not less powerfull but too old on the other hand the CPU was awesome it was really fast and took loads pretty well , it was also very very stable and i really enjoyed working on it . if nintendo had the Wii U longer in companies hands i believe its fate would have been diffrent.
The audience was also a problem , most people buy nintendo consoles to enjoy first party games and most nintendo consoles are complimentary consoles so people buy them next to their playstation and xbox and nintendo supported that alot by creating consoles that are weaker than competition thus most mature and "hardcore FPS" games dont arrive on them.

PS3 was hard to develop for yes but it was financially appealing , if you release call of duty tomorrow on PS3 its very likely its going to be bought but on a nintendo console i doubt that .

Why are ports lazy ??? well cause its hard and its really a waste of time , lets take black flag , We cant get it to reach the levels of next gen at the time and all the work that devs did was to get it as close as possible with only 1 gig of ram so guess what , we compress the textures and BOOM were hated every where.

Believe me the switch is first console nintendo ever made that was developer friendly and really the easiest to develop for from the top 3 because it simply has a an awesome GPU from a company that has great software support for its GPUs but what i love the most is how compatible it is with current engines , Unreal support is simply Unreal , you could easily just take your games from PC and plug them in and export them as SWITCH files ( a bit of over exaggeration here). And i was hoping at that time that nintendo would have opted for the tegra 4 for the 3ds , it would have been marvellous and would have truly stepped alot of games on the 3ds and allowed for bigger more diverse world , heck with some good work 360 games would have been ported on 3ds but its okay. sorry if i have been to angry but its a fact , Wii U was flawed in many ways and nintendo would have done alot more to help keep it strong.

What game? Can you quote next time so that one has a context for your reply?

The highest rated game on DS is GTA: Chinatown Wars. There were also two GTA games for the GBC and one for the GBA.

Right. So, we're to presume that a fully fledged GTA would work wonders.
