Certainly the most random part of the direct. Not that it’s a bad thing!

Hopefully they’re able to breathe new life into the game, since it was a bit vanilla.

This was great to hear! More 3DS ports are always welcome by me. Never got a chance to play this one when it came out so I'm hoping they do a good job remastering it.

@Eel I hold an immense nostalgic attachment to it myself so this was easily one of the best announcements for me.

@Starpoint I think you're going to really enjoy it! The mission structure is divisive to a bunch of people, but the animation, gameplay and setpieces more than make up for it in my opinion. Plus it's a great way to see how Next Level got their start with the series before going on to make 3!

I'm really excited about this! I do hope that it's not a full-priced game. Hopefully the original is next, so the entire series is on Switch/whatever's next.

I wonder how much running on the Switch will improve the controls. I barely beat one of the late-stage mansion bosses and never got past the gauntlet level in the final mansion because of difficulty and probably the controls.
Releasing on Switch should improve the controls and we know the graphics will look better.
It would be amazing if they removed the mission structure (or made it optional), but that's very unlikely since this seems like an HD port and not a remake. Nintendo almost surely would've said it was a remake when it was revealed.
And of course, I want the first game on Switch. Ideally a complete graphical remake of the GameCube game, but I would settle with an HD port of the original, or reluctantly an HD port of the 3DS remake.

I dunno if this is a hot take but I very much preferred the multiplayer in this compared to 3. I can't decide if 3's scarescraper is annoyingly tougher or if everyone random online just completely sucks.

Hopefully an HD version of the first game will show up, too.

Ill pass on the Nintendo Switch HD re-release of Dark Moon since I still have Luigi's Mansion 2 Dark Moon for my 3DS and still in the middle of the game

I mean, I also have Dark Moon, but...I'm just tired of playing most games on the 3DS, I'd much prefer these on the big screen.

Now if only Capcom would put Monster Hunter 4U on Switch. TwT

In Luigi Mansion 3 you can Save the game anytime, right?

@Anti-Matter Yeah, but Dark Moon is a bit different in how it handles the levels and all that. I can't remember if you can save whenever.

Dark Moon is a good game that certainly has its moments but I'm just fine with this unlike being ecstatic for Super Mario RPG or Mario Wonder. I much prefer the first and third games. It looks fine but I hope that the visuals improve to Luigi's Mansion 3 quality by the time it launches next year. It'll be interesting to see what changes or additions they make to the game.

One thing i didn't like about Dark moon is the level structure. In the original and Luigis mansion 3 it was like one big connected playground full of ghosts but in dark moon it was chapter based. if you missed anything you basically had to do the whole chapter over. Now would it be so hard to put the original on switch so we can play all three on the same system?

Dark moon was great on the 3ds. It still looks great with the 3d on. I’ll get the game but dark moon keeps a special place for me on the 3ds

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon/2 was my first foray into the Luigi's Mansion series, so it holds a special place in my heart. I didn't mind the mission structure and quite liked the mansion variety. I still prefer it over the 3DS pseudo remaster of the first game (Maybe not a fair comparison, but I have no way to play the GameCube original), but the third game is by far my favorite.

I'll be skipping this for now since my 3DS copy still functions perfectly, but I highly recommend any series fans or anyone curious to try this one out if they haven't.

I'm also conflicted because I do want to support this game, but it being a potential $60 release is a bit off-putting. I loved playing it on my 3DS. I like the mission structure because it perfectly fits a handheld game console. Dark Moon is designed for picking up and playing in short bursts. I feel like people forget that when talking about it. I also do hope that it looks better than what was shown during the Direct. It was fine, but the 3DS game looked better. I also really hope they keep the multiplayer modes since I never played it during the 3DS days.

Since most ports like this usually get something extra to go with them, what do yall expect for Dark Moon?

A multiplayer mode that was DLC in 3 seems likely to me.
