I hope they pull an Odyssey and reveal a cool twist on the formula in a future direct, similar to the surprise reveal of the capture mechanic in Odyssey. Like what if Luigi could become a spirit like the one shown in the Smash trailer. That would be awesome, and a great opportunity to feature stuff.
I'm okay with goon ghosts, but it would be nice if the leaders/bosses had some personality to them.
Luigi's Mansion was kind of short though. I did prefer the original formula over the missions in Dark Moon. I hope LM3 gives us a decent length without missions as well as great mechanics.
Anyone who hasn't seen the GameXplain analysis video on the reveal trailer should check it out. It's not long, only about 27 minutes. There is a lot of things they noticed in that 10, 15 seconds of footage, it's crazy!

I did have some complaints though. Lack of variety in enemies, constantly being taken back to the bunker, lack of substantial upgrades and the controls were a bit finicky at times. Other than that I liked it. Hopefully, with the switch having two sticks we'll be able to maneuver Luigi around more when capturing ghosts.
Now I just gotta try the original when it releases on 3DS.
a closer look at the footage reveals that peach as well as mario and toad are in the adventure. Do you think they'll add more characters than before? I'd love to see more mario party characters like daisy, wario, waluigi , or yoshi.
Also, do you think that they'll have local multiplayer in this game and bring back gooigi?

If they do have more playable characters I would hope it’d be for like a new game plus or something like that. I’ve always felt that these games should have the spotlight on Luigi.
Live gameplay demo did a lot more to sell me on this than I thought it would. Not gonna lie, my general feelings before were, "well, half of Luigi's Mansion's charm is that it's unique. It's kind of hard to be excited for a sequel when it loses that uniqueness by default." But I think I've seen enough new elements to say it stands out.
I agree, think after the second year or so Nintendo basically accepted that the Wii U was not gonna make it and decided to transfer over to the DS and the next console.
I wasn't excited for it before, but after watching the Treehouse footage, I think I'm definitely sold. I was expecting to just be "more Luigi's Mansion", and I always figured a lot of LM's appeal was the fact that it was unique, and I never got around to Luigi's Mansion 2 for that same reason.
This time around, though, I've definitely seen enough to say that it stands on its own, and I'm eager to get my hands on it and see what's in store in the Haunted Hotel!

It's actually abundantly clear in hindsight that this is exactly what happened. For the most part, the only reason Wii U had games after 2014 is because they were already in development and usually already announced for the console, not that they actually decided to make more games for it. And in hindsight this was the right decision.

Uniqueness is cool but most people don't play games because they're unique, let's be honest. If that was its appeal no wonder the GCN did so poorly. :V
But even if that's true...a 2nd game is still more unique than 99% percent of games by that logic, because that's only 2 games.
@kkslider5552000 To clarify, I don't usually pay much attention to spin-offs of any franchise, and Luigi's Mansion only stood out to me because I rented it years ago and remembered it as "that Mario Spin-off Nintendo never followed up on." I never thought much of its gameplay, even replaying it a couple Halloweens only left me mildly entertained. I honestly never thought that "Luigi's Mansion again, but more of it" would be enough to entertain me, so that's part of why I never played Dark Moon. And now that Luigi's Mansion is officially "another Mario Spin-off", I figured I no longer had a reason to care about the series.
This one, on the other hand, looks much more refined compared to the original, and really just seems like a fun game in general. Now I'm definitely looking forward to it.
