first off sorry if this post isnt allowed on here i didnt know where else to post it

so i recently bought a switch animal crossing console this past friday. so i have only had the switch about 5 days or so. bought it through walmarts affirm credit program if it matters. so after having the switch for a few days honestly as cool as the system is im not interested in it i mean it just sits in the dock collecting dust. some would say i have buyers remorse and maybe you are right. ever since i bought the console i have felt guilty depressed i cant explain it i feel like i should not have bought it, so i tried it out for a few days and i feel like im never gonna use it/play it maybe i bought it just to buy something idk

i guess what im asking this group is have you ever bought a video game or video game console and felt bad assuming you couldnt return it how did you deal with it? how did you come to terms with it honestly im wishing i never bought it i know ill never play it hell i dont even play my PS4 anymore please offer advice and input

I don't think it's allowed to create a thread just for complaining your personal issue in video gaming.

@kaitlin459 Are you not able to just return it?

Personally I'm a pretty good judge of what I'll enjoy and get good value out of so I don't tend to make many purchases I end up regretting, especially expensive ones like this. The Switch is easily the best video game system I've ever owned.

@kaitlin459 TBH I feel like this whenever Buy anything of any kind, I would say just stick with it for at least 2 weeks, but If you really don't like it just return it or sell it.

I bought a DSi XL and returned it as I felt I’d made a mistake. But now years later I wish I’d kept it! Lol

Give it to a family member or friend that enjoys games.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

Do I spend hundreds of dollars/pounds on luxury items I don't really want?

No. That would be...

...silly.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

In my case, I lose interest in my Switch from times to times. Even with a lot of games coming out, I don't play it for two or three weeks. I do other things and spend my time with other hobbies.
You don't have to spend all of your time with something because you just purchased it. Give it a time. Maybe you'll become interested again. If that doesn't happen, you can sell it or whatever.

Sounds like a very strong case of buyer's remorse, though I can't help but wonder if there's a bit more to it perhaps?

What were you looking to achieve when you bought the console? Were you bored of gaming in general and wanted to find something to revitalise your interest? Did you have cash burning a hole in your pocket?

Hang on to your youthful enthusiasms - you'll be able to use them better when you're older.

@kaitlin459 There have been some games I thought I'd like, but I couldn't get into them. Or, I go back to a game I loved 10 years ago, and I'm just not into it anymore. Or sometimes, I've hit a period where I dont want to game.

Some games may surprise you. I was going to skip Mario Odyssey, thinking, "ehh, I cant' get excited for a 3d mario platformer". But Odyssey got such glowing reviews, I gave it a try. By second world, I thought it was amazing.

I didnt' think I was in the mood for antoher zelda, but Breath of the Wild is amazing. My friend with a PS4 got a Switch and loved Breath of the Wild.

I thought Splatoon 2 looked like a kids game. My friend kind of nagged me, saying "you really should try it". Turns out it's an amazing shooter. Fell in love with it. One of my favorite & most played games.

Mario Kart 8 is amazing.

If you can't return your Switch, you can get a good chuck of money for trade-in. I think gamestop gives $200+ for switch console. $27 for pro controller. (that might be store credit. Cash may be a bit less)

You may want to return it if it isn’t to your liking. If not try to sell it on ebay so you can pay off the affirm bill. That being said, there are over 4000 games on the system. Unless you just have no interest in gaming, I am sure there is something on the Switch that you will enjoy. However, if you impulse/manic buy then you really need to try to return it.

I wonder what you hoped to get out of the system that in 5 days you ended up not liking? You sound like you're an existing, informed gamer, so it's not like you randomly bought one of them vidyagame thingamajigs and just discovered you don't like the idea. Is it just the guilt of having spent money you wish you hadn't spent on a thing you realized you didn't need? Or is it something particular about the platform you expected to like but discovered you don't?

That would be listed as Buyers Remorse. If you really wanted to buy one you could've done some homework as the system has been out since 2017 and 2019 for v2 and the Lite. As one mentioned there is more to this story then what's being told to the gaming community at large. And if it is something you bought not considering the cost then that is the buyers choice and since it's opened Walmart will not take it back or give credit back once it's Opened-unless there is a physical hardware defect then you can get a refund. You can exchange but that is the limit of the sale now or defective unit but they will determine that not the buyer at that point. For others on here people buy a Switch knowing what they are getting it's not like it just came out. There are plenty of games for all age and gender and families to enjoy as well. The circumstance your describing from the read doesn't make sense and the mention of buyers remorse clearly to me is buyers remorse at this point.

You could always sell it second hand on Facebook marketplace or Ebay or something if Walmart isn't accepting your return. Unless you REALLY need the money or make space in your living room, then I'd say keep it around for a little while and see if any games pop up that strike your interest. The Switch has a large variety of physical and download-only games that you perhaps haven't seen or heard about yet, so do a little research and try out some demos to see if it really doesn't interest you at all.

Buy used games from Gamestop, because iirc they still have a 1 week return policy if you don't like the game. Or check your local library, because mine had games available to rent for free and that could be another way to find a new favorite game!

Btw, your Animal Crossing edition Switch console might be worth more than you paid for it because it's not the standard edition, so if you keep it in good condition it could be worth hanging on to for a little bit.

No shame in not enjoying your Switch. I must say I'm not much help here as I tend to get enjoyment from the games not the console. But if you aren't feeling it and can't return it, then trade it in? Or maybe gift it to a relative. It's coming up to Christmas afterall. Either way, there is no point regretting your purchase. That helps nothing

Once a items is opened there is no return unless defective or manufacture defect is proven. So they are stuck with the item or have to resell it for a loss.

That is Buyers Remorse there is no regretting it. If one wants it they have to plan or do their homework for the item. It's been out since 2017 so to know they don't want it that is hard to imagine.

Try some of the NES or SNES games if you like the classics

You should sell it or trade it in. Used Switches are worth $$$$ right now.

Can’t see how you are bored with it, it has over 6700 games, I’m clueless here.

The PSVR is the best VR system on the market today.
