I think Nintendo may have accidentally revealed the next Smash Brothers fighter. On Nintendos E3 sales site, they have a category for games that fall under (Games with Super Smash Brothers Characters) and 1 of the games in that category is Fire Emblem Echoes. What do you guys think? Will we be getting yet another Fire Emblem character in Smash Ultimate?

Highly unlikely. All current FE Characters (Marth, Ike, Roy, Lucina, both Corrins and Robin) are playable characters in Fire Emblem Echoes via Amiibo.

@link3710 I thought so, but why no Fire Emblem Awakening or Fates on that list of games? It seems like such an odd one to tie in the Fire Emblem characters, especially in a game where the main characters (Not amiibo DLC stuff) isn't even in Smash Brothers. Its such an odd choice, but given at how Fire Emblem has been treated in Smash Brothers, I think its very possible to get an Echoes character in Smash Ultimate.

It was lazy bundling together of the franchise Fire Emblem is in it so it's part of the sale.

@patbacknitro18 Because Echoes is the one that's on sale, Awakening and Fates aren't.

I wouldn't pay any attention to it. It is odd that they would include Echoes as opposed to Awakening or Fates, yes, but I guess that they wanted to publicise the latest game in their promotional materials as opposed to flooding the page with Fire Emblem titles (considering that Warriors, Fates, and Awakening are also for sale).

I certainly wouldn't mind the inclusion of more non-generic Fire Emblem characters, but I think the Smash development team would sooner prioritise broader IP coverage as opposed to giving us yet another Fire Emblem character. There are at least six characters already (eight if you include the opposite sex variants of Corrin and Robin), making Fire Emblem one of the most represented IP in the Smash Bros. series.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

@Silly_G You would think so, yet they add another Fire Emblem character with every chance they get. Heck Chrom was going to be in Smash 4 lol

@link3710 Yes but then why did Echoes needed to be put under that title at all? There are several characters/games missing in that category. Yet instead of putting Fire Emblem Echoes on the other 3ds list, they decide to put Echoes directly under the list of Smash Brothers Fighters. Considering that not every smash brother character has a game in that list, they could have left Fire Emblem Echoes out of it and instead put it on the normal sales list. So the fact that its there means that there is a possibility of another FE character getting added.

With Echo fighters being a type of fighter in Smash Ultimate, I could see more Fire Emblem characters appear as Echo fighters (e.g. Celica as a Robin Echo).

@Grumblevolcano That makes sense, Although idk what characters from Echoes could copy the movesets of an existing Smash Fighter. I mean since Roy is technically his own fighter now, I think we could get an echoe fighter based on him.

It's got nothing to do with it being a Fire Emblem game, they were just looking for a game with 'Echo' in the title. Probably.

@patbacknitro18 Like I mentioned in my comment, Celica could easily be an Echo fighter of Robin. Both use magic and swords.

I'd agree that it's probably Celica and she'll be similar to Robin. She's a popular character and Nintendo obviously has a soft spot for her (I'm pretty sure they requested that she was to be in FE Warriors).

A Shadows of Valentia stage would be cool too, maybe one of those ones that go around various locations and could include Rigel and Zofia.

Even if this is a mistake she's almost guaranteed to appear in some form. An Alm and Celica assist trophy could also work.

@Grumblevolcano They could also annoy everyone and make the more boring choice of Alm as an echo for Marth. :v

@Kimyonaakuma from what I heard the fire emblem warriors team simply decided she would be in because they wanted her in. And that was apparently decided before they even knew echoes was a thing.

Bloop.
