For many reasons, Darksiders really resonated with me. I rate it as my second favourite game (after Mortal Kombat). It's one of the few games I've played all the way through more than once. With the exception of Mortal Kombat, it's the game I really want on the Switch.

With that said, I wrote to THQ Nordic and asked if they had any plans to bring the game to the Switch. My correspondence is below:

Hello THQ team,
I'm a huge fan of your Darksiders games and I was wondering if there was any hope of you bringing your games to the Switch? I've played the first game on
PS3/PS4 and PC but I'd love to be able to play it on the go with the Switch?
Any chance???
Thanks,
Torpian

Hello,

Well there is a change, but to be honest, we can´t give you any date for that, really fix for 2018 is Darksiders III on PC, PS4 and XONE.

Best regards,
THQ Nordic

Obviously there's a typo and he meant to say 'chance' instead of 'change'. The next bit is what has me excited though - 'we can't give you any date for that' - I take to mean that they have something in the works that will likely come out after 2018.

I will be buying Darksiders 3 on the PS4 the second it drops but I really hope they port Darksiders 1 and 2 to the Switch.

Any other Darksiders fans out there?

Those are your top 2 games of all time? How many games have you played.

I quite enjoyed both of the games although didn't get round to finishing either of them. I've got both on Wii U now though so might play them while I cycle on my exercise bike, as that kind of game lends itself well to something like that (you genuinely cycle differently depending on the pace of the game you're playing)

Yep and I've played a lot of games, starting with Frogger on the Atari 2600. I've played every Mortal Kombat game ever made and watched the terrible cartoon, TV show and movies. Darksiders is highly under rated, it has great voice acting and fun puzzles. I liked Zelda BOTW but I loved the first Darksiders. In my top 10 I'd have:
1. Mortal Kombat (series)
2. Darksiders (series)
3. The Witcher (series)
4. Zelda (series)
5. Final Fantasy (series)
6. Elder Scrolls (series)
7. GTA (series)
8. Everquest 2
9. Mass Effect (series)
10. Blizzard games (Diablo, Warcraft, Starcraft)

The second game dragged on a little too much. Not to mention the Kingdom of the Dead zone was very bland. Reminded me of Desolace from Warcraft.

First game was good.

Played them both on Wii U. I knew beforehand that the second game is more repetitive, so I played that one first. That way it was a fresh concept and I didn't mind the repetitive areas as much. Actually enjoyed it pretty much throughout. Only the part in the middle in the Kingdom of the Dead did grow very stale, but it got good again at the third person shooter part.

Played the first game after it got remastered - while I missed the ability to swap gear and weapons and Death's agility/personality, it was put together in a much more compact and better streamlined way. It's a slightly better (but shorter) game in general. I loved how the endings tied together and I hope we'll finally see the continuation from the first game's ending in the third iteration. The lore, characters and horsemen are just vastly underrated imo, the world's lore doesn't take itself too seriously but it's still quite deep enough and I really like that perfect sweet spot. The games themselves are underrated as well. This series definitely deserves a lot more recognition.

I have Darksiders 1, I rather liked it, it is not one of my favourites but it is really fun and I like the style of its graphics, I would probably buy it again on Switch if I have enough money and there is nothing else on my wishlist at that moment. I'm not very much interested in the sequels anyway. I have seen some pics and videos and they were not convincing enough for me
I prefer to buy again the first one at least I already know I will enjoy it.

The second one is very different to the first one. It's more like an RPG than an action adventure. Death is faster than War and his personality matches his look. I hope Fury is just as compelling as the first two heroes - as it will allow them to make one about Strife and then hopefully a game that puts all four horsemen into one game.

@Torpian I would like to see them bring all of them out for the Switch as a trilogy collection. Hopefully they have all 3 on cartridge's instead of having 2 of them as download only codes, like Nintendo / Platinum are doing with the bayonetta games.

They might do that in 5 - 10 years time but I can't see them fitting all three games on one cartridge now - the games are enormous and simply wouldn't fit. If it were possible, I'd be all for it as well. Would be phenomenal to see War as a special DLC character in a fighting game like Mortal Kombat too.

@Torpian I didn't mean all on one single cartridge, I meant have them all come in the same case like maybe fit Darksiders and Darksiders 2 on one cartridge and have Darksiders 3 on another cartridge. Yeah it would be good to see War & Death as DLC for Mortal Kombat , would actually be great to see Mortal Kombat come back to Nintendo Consoles also.

I was pleased to see they'd got rid of that hideous whip sound effect in the latest Darksiders 3 gameplay. That could've single-handedly stopped me buying the game.

I’d love nothing more than Darksiders I & II on the Switch. Even III could be possible with the necessary adjustments.

Just started this on Switch. I'm playing it on high resolution rather than high performance, as I can't really tell the difference on handheld mode in frame rate terms, but the resolution switch is quite noticeable.

Played this years ago to completion so I know it's a solid game. I remember thinking it was a pretty great Zelda clone, up there with Okami. Looking forward to getting back into it.

Really enjoyed the Darksiders games. Although I think the series peaked in 1 and has steadily declined in the sequels. Couldn't even finish 3 as it just seemed unpolished and rushed in many ways. May get 1 on the switch if it ever goes on sale, got the ps4 version for $2 digitally! Glad more people are getting the opportunity to play it.

It was cheap so I got it today. Seems fun!

I might get this once it goes on sale.

Great art direction in this, with some immense characters and great looking enemies and bosses. It's also great that everyone likes to shout at each other rather than simply talking.

How boring would that be.

Never realised Joe Madureira created Battle Chasers as well as Darksiders. Probably should have guessed considering the art styles are so similar. Definitely the reason I enjoy these games so much.
On my way to kill the Bat Queen.
Cant believe I played this game all the way back in 2010. Thats insane to me.

I am absolutely loving this game. I’m also playing on the high quality mode because it looks and runs fantastic (although the high performance mode is noticeably smoother when turning the camera).

One of the coolest things about this particular version of the game is the HD rumble. When your health gets low into the red, and you can slightly hear his heart beating, the controller just ever so slightly rumbles along with the heartbeat. It’s the coolest thing I’ve experienced with HD rumble since Super Mario Odyssey.

@GeeEmm
Is that so? I didn’t know that. I have Battle Chasers Nightwar. If it’s anywhere near as good as this game I’ll be playing that ne— .... @JaxonH Allow me to insert my completely unsolicited opinion.

Cuphead is a masterpiece and, when it releases, it should be your priority.
