Topic: Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII

As Atlus decides to omit the Switch (as far as we know… for now), Square comes out with the long requested PSP game remake. All consoles and PC will get the release.

As for the newly announced trilogy build of the “Remakes,” it is staying exclusive to PC and PlayStation. Intergrade has been “Deck verified,” but it should play on any Windows-powered handheld too.

As someone who isn't playing FFVII Remake until he gets a PS5 (which isn't happening until part 2 is out, at the very least), Crisis Core remake could be a potentially fun time until then. I'm interested, as long as its an actual version and not some cloud (heh) version.

Oh my God, I can't believe this is happening! I'm surprised Nintendo life hasn't made an article about it yet!

I'm ready, barring the cloud version as I've said in another thread.

I think people drastically overestimate the probability of games being cloud. Of the 4,000+ games on Switch, only half a dozen are cloud, unless you count the kingdom heart games separately. And aside from that collection of games they were all grossly demanding. KH was just laziness, lacking the effort required to port that many native games for $90 total. Not to mention, every single cloud game to date was clearly specified as such at time of announcement.

The overwhelming majority of switch games are native, even from Square Enix. Dragon Quest XI, Life Is Strange, Final Fantasy X/X-2 and XII… No. I can confidently say this game will be native.

@JaxonH i get that, it's a select few, but the ones from the 3rd party that you REALLY want, tend to be cloud ( hitman, KH come to mind). So im just a little concerned. Hopefully I'm off My rocker 😄

I know that's been disappointing, but it's important to keep an unbiased perspective otherwise emotion can blind us to the likely outcomes. Hitman just can't run on Switch, and the same is true for the other cloud games, barring one exception. And that exception had its own reason- it was nearly a dozen games that had been out for years already, and apparently the investment required to port that many games to one system and only get $90 for it was too much, and they deemed the ROI not worthwhile. That's a very unique case. Disappointing as all heck, but unique nonetheless.

Barring that one single unique case which had its own reasons, every game that can run natively has run natively. And, it's not like this game is some massive graphical showpiece. It has new models and voice work, but it's still technically a remaster. It looks on par with what we've seen on Switch countless times before.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you're gonna worry, worry about whether it'll run stable. That's the real question.

@JaxonH Yeah, you do have a point. There aren't too many cloud games on switch now that you mention it.

I just wanted to pop in and mention that this isn't a remake, but a fancier than usual remaster, and you can tell it's still the original PSP game by how some of the cutscene animations looked in the trailer. So it should definitely be able to run on the Switch without cloud, I think?

And maybe don't get your hopes up for anything grander than an extra fancy remaster, especially since I doubt it'll incorporate the new plot points from the FFVII Remake... if it even added anything that relates to Crisis Core. lol

Never played this one, but love FFVII but that might be nostalgia. But it does looks great.
Hopefully they dont cheap out and bring out a physical that actually has the game on it and not just an instal.exe

I saw that. I'm not sure if it's G4 sized though. It only shows the G2 disc version. I'd rather not chance it, so I preordered from Amazon France where they show an actual G2 size steelbook.

@Magician thanks for the tip. Had it pre-ordered on Amazon, but a steel book is pretty sweet for being the same price. With that said, I just bought it at BB.

@JaxonH could be a silly question here, but what's the difference here between the two?

G2 sized steelbooks are the size of PS4/X1 cases and have room for a disc. Whereas G4 sizes steelbooks are the size of Switch cases and have a cartridge slot.
