After the cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3 and the Blue Bomber’s exclusion from Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, many have been wondering if Capcom had completely given up on their popular robotic hero. It seemed like they were going out of their way to leave him out of things, hoping that gamers would simply forget their love for the classic character and move on. Some wondered if, to put it bluntly, Capcom was in the process of “killing” Mega Man - a fear echoed by many fans. According to Capcom’s Christian Svensson, this isn’t even remotely the case.
During a Q&A, Svensson directly addressed the concern that the publisher was dropping support for the character. “Oh, absolutely not,” he said, explaining that Mega Man is still a very important brand for Capcom, and one that they will absolutely continue to support in the future. “I wish I had something I could hold and display for you that that’s the case, but I don’t right now. But super, super important to us; I do want to express that.”
Nice use of the backpedal, Capcom.
