Topic: The Backloggery Question Thread

Well, since everyone here seems to have a backloggery page here, I felt this would be a great place to ask my questions
1. How does one use an image not from the internet as a banner/avatar? (for example, my avatar)
2. What is really the criteria for a master run? Ive seen lots of different master things people put up, and im just not sure what one must do. for example, I consider myself a master of pokemon games, but i have not yet caught all 493 pokemon (nor am i close) which useing the site criteria would only be a beaten as I have not beaten it truly 100%. Would this be considered beaten, complete, or master?

Im sure a thread like this exists but i assume its dead, so my questions would not be answered.

It has to be hosted on the internet somewhere. I use Picasa (Google) to host my pictures. Easy, and free.

I'd call it "beaten". "Mastered" is user defined.

They define the meanings for each of those on the website. Beaten means you've at least seen the credits, complete is 100% of everything. Everything unlocked, all difficulties and endings complete. Mastered only happens after completion, when you do something extra, like finishing The Legend of Zelda with only 3 hearts and no deaths

I suggest you making a photobucket account (or something similar), so you'll rarely have problems with your pictures.

About Mastered, you do something wicked. Like a low level run in RPGs.

A master run is when you give your self further restraints to make the game even more difficult than the hardest settings..

Each type of game would need different sorts of requirements to be considered mastered. For some it might be some sort of speed run, another you might only allow yourself certain weapons while in a third you may institute a level cap of some sort for your character. Overall I see the mastered badge misused far too often on backloggery though. See alot of 'Mastered' for 100% completion ect or no requirements for the master run they did to show that it was a mastered game.

The Beaten / Completed / Mastered status selection unfortunately does not apply perfectly to all games. Some games are completed when they are beaten. Some games are not of the kind that can really be beaten. When in doubt, I just null a game. I don't use the status for comparing my profile with others, as I think that's kind of pointless when my games won't be the same anyway, but just as a means of keeping track of stuff for myself. So I let each status mean whatever I want.

Okay I was wondering what all this Backloggery stuff was. Found this thread and got myself one.

And......it made me realize just what a lazy gamer I am. Maybe that should be my new year's resolution - finish more games (ha!). @_@

The Backloggery is awesome! My only complaint is that horrible 4 star rating. They say that they are going to change it (for over a year now, you can still see it on the Changelog page), but I don't think that they will. I mean it isn't that much work to add an extra star, right?

Oh I hadn't even noticed that is was just 4, I was just reading the words next to them! I think Excellent should be 5 stars too. :/

Ratings are just random numbers. There's no naturally correct number. 4 works as well as any.

Well 5 is usually the standard with star ratings, at least in my experience. But I suppose it makes little difference really. shrugs
