Why what a surprising casting choice from Tim Burton! Actually that's who I was hoping would play the mad hatter so even though it's not surprisng, it's still a good fit.

But I actually really like Burton, despite him getting a bit obvious with his casting lately, and I LOVE Alice in Wonderland. I'm reading the book right now, and I think Burton was an excelent choice to direct an Alice in Wonderland movie. Anyone know who Alice is played by? I didn't recognize her.
I forget what her name is but I think Yahoo had an article talking about some of the casting and they said that Alice was some unknown actress from Australia.
What has Stephen Fry (Chesire Cat) been in? The trailer looks great and I can't wait to see it. EDIT: He was in "V For Vendetta" as the talkshow host guy.

Tim Burton stated in an interview that this movie occurs after the events of the books, where she somehow loses her memory and now returns to Wonderland during one of it's wars
I was really hoping for something darker...more along the line of American McGee's take on the world, although that version was her returning after her parents died, but still. A tad disappointing but I'll see it either way since it's one of my favorite stories of all time. I just hope they didn't take too many liberties with the plot, but from looking at the trailer it seems they have.
