We all know reality TV gets picked on for introducing a lot of crud (which it deserves, for the most part), but there are some gems out there, if you know where to look.
I personally enjoy shows like Pawn Stars, American Pickers, & Storage Wars.
Yeah, they're probably more scripted than most realize (all reality TV is, TBH), and items are probably planted by channel execs to make good TV, but it's still very neat to hear about the history of some of these objects, and because of that, these shows actually have a lot more educational/entertainment value than other reality shows (particularly Pawn Stars).
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
I like pawn stars, storage wars, duck dynasty, trailer park boys (probably my fav out of the bunch), other then that I can't think of any since I don't watch much tv.
I always find Restaurant Impossible intriguing. I worked as a food manager for a summer camp and I often compare my lousy conditions with the restaurant's

I prefer programs with the genre: World's ____est _____.
the only shows i really keep track of as they're aired are Hell's Kitchen and Masterchef — i know, it's all manufactured and edited for maximum drama, but i love watching Chef Ramsay scream at people, and i also love cooking shows, so it's a win-win, lol. I do love shows like Antiques Roadshow and Storage Wars as well, but that's more to see what kinds of items they find, valuable or not.
and I also love love loved Solitary when it was on. now that was a crazy kind of show, lol. I miss Val ;___;

I've been watching Kitchen Nightmares on Netflix and, like so many others in this thread, I am pretty enamored by watching Chef Ramsey go off on people.
also, I'm a victim of watching Meerkat Manor marathons....
Ever watched the cooking competition of Chopped? I really like it. 4 competitors start out to cook a meal for 3 judges. The ingredients is usually unexpected, so it's a lot of fun. Whoever has the worst dish gets "Chopped" or eliminated. The first 4 competitors have to prepare an appetizer, then on the next round, is the entree, and then last, the dessert. I guess the number of competitors should decrease as each plate gets more and more unhealthy so they don't fatten up the judges. LOL
@Varia01: i've watched Chopped before, and it just didn't hook me.
@bezerker99: dood i freakin' love Meerkat Manor! haha, i'd totally forgotten that show. i love Animal Planet shows :3
I think I'll kiiiiinda third Dirty Jobs as a reality show too, I've also watched every single episode Netflix has available. I prefer the earlier seasons, though, when apparently there were many more dirty jobs to try — the latter seasons are kinda confusing, lol. I just love Mike Rowe though :3
if Dirty Jobs counts, does that mean Mythbusters counts, though? because Mythbusters is awesoooooooome

Oh yeah, Mythbusters! Man, how much I miss watching it... It was so awesome. I'd share one thing they did, but you guys and gals may not want to hear it, because it is very nifty, but kinda gross. >:]
I also used to like Deadliest Catch quite a bit, but then Phil's sons started getting super drama-tastic shortly before their dad passed, and then afterward with him no longer around to keep them together it was just hard to watch because they were all such jerks to each other on the Cornelia Marie and they kept focusing on it so much. the earlier seasons are a solid watch, though.
