The only two things I ever imported were both Transformers. One was Soundblaster (black Soundwave with double the tape space in his chest) and Fire Convoy (Optimus Prime as fire truck). Actually, I didn't import them, a place I went to always had the imports there. I always prefered the American releases of most things that ever came out and really not wanting to put money directly into the pockets...nevermind...Let's just leave it at that

I am the one you despise. I am he who says what you really deep down know but are affraid to admit. I am the Anti-Fanboy, the crusader of truth in a world built on your lies.

Wow I figured more people would have imported at one time or another.

Never owned an import console until now and both of my import Wiis were domestically sourced. I did get my Playstation modded so I could play import games (though thanks to Capcom's "anti-piracy code" in Strider 2, I could only play the original Strider game on that disc despite buying the domestic release -- gee thanks Capcom!) of which the Playstation had a number of arcade compilations never released in the USA.

I don't know that I'd do it again in the future to be honest. Disc-based media and the downloads being tied to hardware that will be tough to get repaired down the line. If Nintendo doesn't offer an upgrade/download transfer scheme for the Wii's successor I could see this being the last console gen for me; if they do have a scheme like that I'll just stick with the domestic unit -- I cannot see collecting import systems!

Well with region protection the way it is now, it's getting less and less practical to import. I mainly imported back in the day due to my impatience of not wanting to wait the time in between Japanese and North American releases, but the gap has even closed on these quite a bit as of late.

The first console I imported I suppose would be my PSP. But I actually picked it up while in Japan so idk if it counts as 'importing' lol. I had to have that carnival blue color.

Have a few Japanese GBA/DS games, but that's about it as far as games go.

just another day...

The only thing imported to the house I live in was a Japanese toy called a Daruma Otoshi. My little brother [the family genius for his age] was obssesed with this machine thing [look up rube goldberg machines] and somehow he came across a Daruma Otoshi picture. It was like love at first sight, but with a 5-year old and a Japanese toy. We imported one for his birthday.

Just let it happen.

I saw imported US DS systems back in early 2005 in a shop, but I couldn't cough up the extra €50,- so I just bought it at the local launch.

Over the years I bought several US versions of games for it though, including Metroid Prime: Hunters, New Super Bros. and Pokémon Diamond.
