I was going through my game closet last night and came across my Super Famicom console, the first game console I ever imported. This thing hasn't seen the light of day (until last night when I snapped the pic) since a week before the Super Nintendo console was released in the US when I boxed this baby up after 7 months of faithful service and more hours of Super Mario World than I could ever count. I imported the system in December 1990, not long after it was released in Japan as I couldn't wait the extra 8 months for the US release. I'm impatient that way.
Whoa, that is awesome Corbie! I have never imported a game system before. However, I am considering importing a Japanese PSP from PlayAsia because they have all those really cool colors that we never get here in the US.
I've never imported a system, I've imported a few games though, as follow.
Resident Evil 3 (PSX) - Christmas Present Parasite Eve (PSX) Final Fantasy: Anthology (PSX) Final Fantasy: Tactics (PSX) Xenogears (PSX)
None of which I still own, because I sold my PS2+1 many years ago.
Well, now that you mention it I have imported a "console" if this counts haha:
For those of you who doesn't know about "Pocketstation" it was a memory card for PS1 that doubled as a mini-game system. Where certain games would save a side-game on your Pocketstation that had some interesting synergies for the main games. I remember a mini game where a chocobo would go around digging for treasure which I could then upload for special items in Final Fantasy 8(i think it was 8).
It was imported from the US, the games too.
There he goes, Firkraag. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. - My VGscore
I never imported a console before. Though I am considering importing games someday (for the SNES). I do have Game Boy games from Europe; Aladdin (Game Boy Color), Shrek: Fairy Tale FreakDown, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Game Boy Advance), Mario Kart: Super Circut, Super Mario Advance, Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX, and King of Fighters Ex: Neo Blood.
I imported a Mega Drive from Japan as a lad. My first games were Magical Flying Hat Turbo Adventure and Arrow Flash! It was such a step up in graphics from the humble Master System, I loved it to death
I later went on to import a SNES when it first came out in Japan too. Blame Mean Machines magazine for that! hehe
The only system i have imported was a 20in1 Pocket Megadrive US version by Tectoy & atGames . It has a built in LCD thou the games are downscaled to suit the LDC resolutions plus it plugs into a TV for that glorious NTSC fuzzynes all for the price of an average DS game .
So far I've never imported anything, though I'm thinking of getting a Famicom or a Saturn at some point. Luckily, Level-1 games down at the mall is selling both.
In my early teens, I washed cars month upon month at the weekends and, eventually, had enough saved to import a Mega Drive. (And, yes, It was totally worth it!)
