Along with arcades where I live the music stores are pretty much extinct. 50 miles to the nearest music store and they mainly sell used scratched up CD's at that. Sure Wally World sells them but they are censored. K-Mart sells some uncensored CD's but they have cut the selection back down to about a 1/4 of what it was 5 years ago. Mainly now I buy the CD off of places like Amazon or pay to download the CD off of Amazon ( burn it on a disc myself, sometimes some great prices also ). Really depends on which is the cheapest method at the time. Do you prefer digital distribution of music or buying in store ?
Digital. I can buy the songs I actually want rather than an entire CD with maybe two or three good songs.
Moco Loco If you find yourself spiritually drifting (as I was for far too many years), remember that Jesus can and will walk across the water to reach you and bring you back to shore.
I've tried buying it digitally from a store a few times. Every time, it ended in a nightmare and me not having any of my songs. Now I only by the CD, I just rip it on to my computer so I have everything in one place and can listen to it without having a CD in the drive. Rush in July FTW!

CDs in store. I Like having a tangle object, I'm not sure why but I've just got to have it. The only thing I've ever downloaded was The Band Perry EP, because it's a iTunes exclusive

The only advantage of buying a physical CD album is getting the outmost quality from that particular CD. if you rip and encode a song from a legal and physical CD into a lossless file, you'll be able to hear the music bit-by-bit. but that's only for audiophiles. people who just want to normally listen to a song should go for digital.
I prefer CDs, especially when they're cheaper. Once ripped onto your computer, you can download them onto any music player because they aren't protected by iTunes. For bands I really like, having the CD and the actual album cover is pretty awesome too.
Neither. Music stores don't usually stock the CDs I want, they only have popular junk. I order most of my CDs online.
I tried buying digital music and left with a horrible taste in my mouth. I can't listen to those 3 albums anymore because I've switched computers and changed MP3 players a few times since then, and they aren't listenable anymore thanks to their DRM. Also I care too much about sound quality to listen to 192kbps CBR MP3s.
So I would only buy music digitally if it met the following: 1. No DRM. 2. FLAC encoded. No lossy junk like MP3s or AAC.
Then it would live up to buying a CD. Otherwise you're just getting a sub-par product.

You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
When I purchase music, I just use itunes, especially now that there's no DRM (though even when there was, I haven't ever had problems syncing new computers/ipods to my account).
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery

You know, if you just right click on the first song of a burned CD on iTunes you can get the album cover for the entire album, provided it's on iTunes. Or at least for Macs, I don't know about other computers.
