King Kong was not based on a video game, Tron was not based on a video game, but if it were, it would be the best. I also enjoyed Doom. I haven't seen enough of Silent Hill to say if it was good or not.
The guy who mentioned "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters"....yeah, that's not the same as "King Kong".
Ah, didn't catch the "of". Either way, its a documentary, not really a movie.
Sean Aaron ~ "The secret is out: I'm really an American cat-girl." Q: How many physicists does it take to change a light bulb? A: Two, one to hold the light bulb, the other to rotate the universe.

I know what you mean, but that sentence is just funny. =)
I of course have to include Tron as others mentioned (quite possibly my absolute favorite movie as a kid that didn't start with "Star Wars" or "Raiders of the", and still one of my favorite movies of all time), if we use an expanded definition of "video game movie". And in that case, i'd have to throw out The Last Starfighter, which i wasn't really a huge fan of, but was pretty awesome, if only for the basic concept of the flick.
I can't count the number of times I watched The Last Star Fighter.

I thought the Silent Hill movie wasn't bad before it devolved into a giant mess at the end, I didn't like that it starred a woman.
Eh? Why would you have a problem with a leading lady?
Because the whole experienced was designed to be male. The nurses representing sexual frustration, the pyramid head enemy being a giant (phallus), the game was centered around a male main character and the horrors he saw were based on his own psyche.
True to an extent, but those same horror images were just transplanted into another psyche and given different meanings. I thought they actually did a very good job with that particular aspect of developing horrors from the psyche of the girl (the crawling creature emerging from the bathroom stall where she was molested, the nurses which now are connected with the anger at the pretty nurse who looked in at her mutilated body after the fire, etc).
My only problem was with some of the acting and script (absolutely terrible dialog in many scenes), although the leading woman's acting was much better than all the other actors combined, save perhaps for Alice Krige. I can get past the bad dialog to a certain extent, insofar as the games also had strangely detached dialog, but some of it really should have been reshot to avoid being borderline-laughable (every word uttered by the girl's real mother, for instance).
Pfft! Why didn't you make a movie starring Hope? Who doesn't want a momma's boy to be a star?
You have to be strong to ride a chocobo.
Next film stars Hope. I can't tell you the name, because this is a family site.
Lieutenant Commander of the Lesbian Love Brigade
There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
if you like anime, street fighter 2 and street fighter alpha are both good video game / film cross overs. the tekjen anime was ok aswell, but not quite as good as the street fighter films.
Resident Evil, but I prefer the 2nd out of all of them. Looking forward to the next one, hopefully it will be good in 3D.
