Hey there!

With all of the good JRPG's coming out soon, I'm curious. Out of all of the RPG's out there, who do you think is the most ridiculously powerful team of characters from any game? Excluding Pokemon, sadly.

@SlimFreakinFast Can you mix and match from games? And how many in a party? Is this like fantasy football teams lol?

@GrailUK

Hmmmm... the pseudo-fantasy football has me intrigued now.

NEW RULES:

1. Four members per party
2. Party members can be from any RPG, regardless of console
3. One character per game entry (example: Auron from FFX, but no other FFX characters; party can have other FF characters)
4. Protagonists ONLY. No bosses or antagonists.

I haven't played all that many RPGs, but based on the ones I have played, how about: Seth from Fire Emblem 8, Sharla from Xenoblade Chronicles, Vivian from Paper Mario: TTYD, and Quina from Final Fantasy IX. Maybe not the most overpowered party in existence, but certainly a crossover I'd like to witness.

Currently Playing: WarioWare Smooth Moves

Shulk (XC), Terra (FFVI), Ness(EB), Chrono (CT)

@Dogorilla That's a pretty healthy line-up. Seth is an overpowered MONSTER, Sharla can pack on those heals and buffs, Vivian has that magical coverage, and Quina just eats everydamnthing. Love it.

@SlimFreakinFast Maybe a tad offensive. Hmmm...I wouldn't know who to bench for a healer...

I'd go with:

Deego from Rogue Galaxy because HE'S A FREAKIN' DOG-CYBORG
Vivi from Final Fantasy IX
Colette from Tales of Symphonia
Yangus from Dragon Quest VIII because of that damn accent

@GrailUK I'm also stumped with that. They're all great characters DX

OK, I'm game.

#1 Ramza from Final Fantasy Tactics. Anyone who has played the game will know that he can become ridiculously overpowered. So he's in. Actually, pretty much anyone in that game can become ridiculously OP - FFT is so wonderfully broken!
#2 Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. There's undoubtedly some recency bias here, but he gets all the blades, can spam specials and use all elements. It's totally unfair on all the other characters - except maybe, just maybe, Tora with Poppi.
#3 Neku with Shiki from The World Ends With You. OK, maybe not the most powerful character ever, but it's from possibly my all-time favourite game.
#4 Need a magic user and a healer, so, er, I guess Red Wizard from Final Fantasy (the original). I was going to say Vivi from FFIX too, because I love the character, but SlimFreakinFast got there first.

I'm sure this had more to do with an equipment ensemble that I have never been able to duplicate again, but I had a playthrough of Mario RPG once where no matter how powerful the attack, even from Smithy, Geno would only take 1 damage. So I would have Geno and literally any other 3 people (I'll go with Robo from Chrono Trigger because I like him, Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia, and Endir from I am Setsuna because that is what I am playing now and he has Life to resurrect Geno who could still die from instant kill attacks).

@SlimFreakinFast A dog, a black mage, an angel and a thug. Eclectic party lol!

@Krull love the picks!! I didn't play a lot of FF Tactics, but I know all about Ramza XD Rex is AWESOME TO THE MAX. He could cover any and all elements and could be used for healing also!

I didn't play The World End With You, but I plan on it when it comes to Switch! And you definitely cannot go wrong with the red mage! That's a dual purpose man you got. Good picks!

@Xyphon22 I like the diversity! I really gotta finish Super Mario RPG.

I also appreciate the Tales of Symphonia love! Robo is super, crazy helpful and Endir is also very damn powerful!

1. P3 protag (if you’ve played Persona 3, you know how ridiculous he is)
2. Alfyn from Octopath Traveler (Concoct, ‘nuff said)
3. Blue Mage Lenna, Final Fantasy V
4. Max Scout Alicia, Valkyria Chronicles

Man I wanted to answer and then realized I haven't played much JRPG in more than a decade lol.

This really doesn't make sense unless you specify who they're fighting against.

Converted from Sony to Nintendo during 7th gen and never looked back.

Gau from FFVI with the Niteshade rage ability can permanently charm any enemy in the game (including the final boss), so they'll completely stop attacking your party in favor of attacking themselves until they die.

Liquid Metal Slimes in Dragon Quest V can very rarely be recruited (1/256 chance every time you defeat one, they don't appear often, and they usually run before they can be killed), and they're invincible to most attacks.

Paladins in Ogre Battle 64 aren't gamebreaking, but it's pretty easy to promote to them late game and they're so efficient all around that there's little reason to have a unit that doesn't have at least one in it.

Assassins from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance have great stat growth and can learn the concentrate ability, which gives about 95% accuracy to all their attacks, including instant death moves.

Still waiting for Atlus to make Snowboard Kids 3
