Had DS phat (sold it to a friend), had 2 DS lites (I dropped 1st so LR stopped working and traded it in for new one, which I ended up trading in to get a DSi) and currently (and forever shall) own a black DSi, which I love.
I still have the phatness that is the original DS. It's red and it came bundled with Mario Kart DS, so it's still sweet. I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. DSi needs a VC and a coat of red paint before I grab one.

got the original NDS as a gift, still works just need a new power adapter also had 2 DS Lites - one of them (white) got busted inside dropping it, but kept it, and when the black-red top screen got loose, one side of the hinge broke, (different users) I replaced the top screen, and all buttons including volume, power, to have a black and white DS Lite!
And yes got a DSi last month and it's very well worth it, I don't have a portable music player, so it works well enough and you can make it do or keep on a freaky 'level'. And also for camera, its just really handy and fun with calendar etc. (and yes kids) lol .
I'd get another DSi sometime if I could, but with a working DS lite it's alright for now (multiplay, exchange, etc.)
