Topic: Pop Plus: Solo Complaints?

It has come to my attention that some people may not be enjoying Pop: Plus Solo as most people...My guess is that this probably due to the unecessary hype for the game. People seem to make it sound TOO good...Don't get me wrong, I love this game! However, I feel that certian people are having their bar raised too high to to all of this praise...
So...Even though I love this game, I will let people know of some of the faults it has, in order to bring the game back down to Earth...
1. The bosses (so far) are extremely similar. The only distinguishing thing I've seen (SO FAR) is different animals you attack...
EDIT: NEVER MIND! It seems that only the first two bosses are exactly the same in terms of vanquishing them. Variety is thrown in during the third boss.
2. The difficulty could have been handled better. In a game as simple as popping bubbles, the only way you can really make it harder is to make the bubbles smaller and make them move faster, which (unfortunately) makes it extremely difficult to create chains, especially in the later levels with several jets pushing all of the bubbles together as well...
3. Yes, you JUST pop bubbles. The different modes offer SOME variety, but there is very little you can do to change up this simple concept.

I strongly encourage people to read this topic before purchasing Pop Plus: Solo. If these faults don't seem very major to you (like they aren't for me! ) then you are likely to not be disappointed by what the game has to offer!

I can't imagine anyone having watched the trailers of the game and not knowing what to expect. It is what it is. Popping bubbles. Simple. Fun. Nothing more, nothing less. I thought it was a very solid 500 point purchase.

I'm not regretting my purchase per se, as it is a decent download within its own bounds, but it's certainly nowhere near as inventive or polished as any of the Art Style games that go for the same price. The core mechanics are pretty repetitive, there ends up not being a whole lot of strategy or improvement involved, and the music / presentation is simply not that great (again, I'd take a single random track from any Art Style game over this game's entire soundtrack).

Another problem for me is that they could have done more to add variety to the core concept. One thing that comes close to varying the gameplay but unfortunately suffers from control issues is the ability to grab a bubble, shake it, and have it explode to produce a shockwave. If that action could be performed more smoothly, it would greatly improve the strategic part of the game, but alas it's sort of a pain: you can't quickly swipe a bubble to begin shaking it, you have to hold your stylus down on it for a moment before it sort of locks on, and that extra instant is too much to make it a smooth technique that, ideally, would have you rapidly alternating this technique and simple popping.

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.

I hear that if you pop 100 bubbles, a different sound will activate

I feel the exact same. However, it seems that the OVER hype for the game raises too many people's expectations, so they expect more than what is seen on the trailers...

Well I think the lagging quality of DSiWare has also made that problem a bit worse. It's put a lot of pressure on these titles to perform, probably more than should be. I think as we see more quality titles available, this pressure will drop a bit and the hype train won't be running as often.

I posted a topic very similar to this in the review of this game here on NL, saying that so many ppl had glorified and raised the bar for this game so high that it was just about written in stone to fail to live up to expectations. I love this game, but that's because I wasn't expecting it to clean my bathroom and end world hunger when I played it!!

My only complaints with the game are minor.

Entering your name in everytime is a pain. It saves it when the game stays on but if you leave and go back you have to re enter your name for a high score and the process of doing so is annoying. They should've just made a virtual keyboard.

When you "die" in adventure mode, if you go to try again you start at zone 1. Not the zone you were just at, zone 1.
IF you quit instead, then go back and continue your adventure you will start at the last zone you were in.
Really dumb if you ask me but whatever. It's still a really fun and simple game.
