My friend is debating whether or not to buy a DSi, a high quality camera, or a PS3. I told him that the DSi was the best buy because it comes with a camera AND its own mini photoshop, a recorder, and other fun things. Does anybody else have any good reasons to buy a DSi?

I think the DSi is a great handheld! The best! Especially if you like Nintendo's games. That's the first question I'd ask myself. If you like the games the franchise releases, then that's the first "Yes." A second Yes for me is the dsi camera, I think its great, you can do alot with it and some newer dsi games utilize that. Third great thing for me is that the dsi can play aac files and you can listen to and minipulate your audio on it, nothin specifically useful but it can be fun... I like inserting mario blips and blops in my favorite songs. LOL. I also like the sd card slot that you can store dsiware games and your photos and music on. So, yes, I think the DSI is a great buy, I love it much more than my old ds, but if money is an obstacle stick with the ds.

Oh, and of course the DSi Shop is the best... just imagine a ds without it now! We dsi owners have become so reliant upon it to download cheaper games and in some cases better games for the price vs. cart games. Also, FlipNote Studio. When that comes out (hopefully in about a week or so!) you'll have note-taking and drawing capabilities in a wonderful app and I know on the dsi that it will shine....

The camera isn't bad actually! Needs a good light source though, outside pics are fantastic

It all depends what your friend already has, if he already has a DSLite I would go with a camera instead because you can get some good cameras at cheap prices now a days. Of course if your friend has never played a DS and wants to a DSI is a good place to start out, however he would be out of luck if he wants to play his GBA games on it.
If your friend is debating over getting a good quality camera or a DSi, he better go with the camera because the DSi's camera isn't all that great. Granted, you can take some decent snaps with it, and have fun with the photos, but certainly the sort you could get with a good quality camera. I won't knock the DSi ... I love mine, and would recommend one to anyone who is thinking of getting one. But it's certainly not going to replace my digital camera.
