It would be great if we in our posts could... write time in local time and users over the world see it in their time. Some sort of time tag. Great for setting up matches. What do you think of that? It should be presented with some nice graphic to distuingish it from regular text.

That sounds like a good idea. If you wanted to say something like "The update happens at 3pm", and the current time for you was 1pm, you could post something like...
[time]+2:00[/time]
And then it could display like this for you...
3:00 PM Mon 5th Oct 2009
and like this for someone who lives in a time zone 10 hours ahead of you...
1:00 AM Tue 6th Oct 2009

EDIT: Another example, but with a different tag format, lets say I wanted to say "The update happens on Friday at 10am" (the time Australia gets the WiiWare/VC/DSiWare update), I could post something like...
[time]2009-10-09-10-00[/time]
and for me it would display as that time...
10:00 AM Fri 9th Oct 2009
and if you lived on exactly GMT...
11:00 PM Thu 8th Oct 2009
or for those of you who live in GMT but have DST right now...
12:00 AM Fri 9th Oct 2009
and so on.

Hmmm... interesting idea guys, that would be quite possible - I haven't seen that on forums before though, is there any existing code/style that we can copy/adhere too?

@aNt:
Have never seen it before. How about using a format like [nltime]hhmm[/nltime], using 24 hour, skippin am/pm. Or do we need a fulltimetag, yyyymmddhhmm?

I would think the full date would be needed (year/month/day/hour/minute), otherwise it might get confusing. Eg, "how about [time]1500[/time] tomorrow" could end up saying "how about 21:00 yesterday tomorrow". With the full date, you could have "how about [time]200910061500[/time]" which could end up saying "how about 21:00 Mon 6th Oct 2009".

But if I want to set up a weekly battle then we would like to say something like... "we meet Tuesdays 18:00". Then we need weekday to be included in the nltime tag. Clearly just one format isn´t enough. Keep brainstormin, ant will take the good parts... I hope.
Lets start with "the long date" and go on from there.

Ah, that is a good point!

I found something that might be useful, by the way. I have told it to set a fixed time of 9am on Tuesday the 6th of October 2009, for New South Wales in Australia (which is currently GMT+11), and it shows that exact time in every other time zone!

Guys,

We'll try and implement a [time] type bbcode thing, we'll just need to discuss this internally to decide the best format for the BBCode tag as there isn't anything to follow... it'll be included and announced soon though. :)
