Yes I have a source, Sonic Stadium. They broke the rumor, and NL also posted a story on it.
Sonic Rush 5? That's like saying Sonic Colors is Sonic Unleashed 2 and Sonic Gnerations is Sonic Unleashed 3; or Sonic CD is Sonic 3, Sonic 3 is Sonic 4, Sonic & Knuckles is Sonic 5, and Sonic 4 is Sonic 6. Colors DS and Generations 3DS may have similar play styles but are still not technically Rush games. I think the next 3DS Sonic game will be great, I've heard they put a bit more time into this than they did Genrations 3DS. Plus it's not a rumor anymore. They really are doing a livestream event on Groundhog's day, and will probably be related to Sonic. Why? Because it's being hosted by Sonic Team.

@MultiMarioSonic It is still a rumor because we don't know if Sonic Stadium got the right info on the games. They could be completely different than what is rumored.
And as for the other games, I guess your right, but thats just how I view them.

@Xrtremedifan It would be to much for the 3DS. 3D worlds, easy, its just the speed they would need to run at would be the problem.

@Knuckles True, Iizuka did mention that SEGA wanted a new play style and wanted to shift the focus on Sonic and not a giant mass of characters. A rumor is a rumor, until confirmed true.

Yeah, Sonic Colors and Generations are beyond amazing and only Sonic is playable in those games, so I'm perfectly fine with only him being playable in future games.
If Sega can somehow translate the appeal of characters like Tails and Knuckles in Sonic 2 or 3 into 3D, I think this game could turn out to be pretty cool. Having multiple characters each with their own abilities, yet still playing like Sonic Colors or Generations would be easy to screw up, but awesome if they made it happen.
