I don't think that putting a lot of development time into making old games look worse so that they run on a newer (albeit portable) console while there already exists a current-gen console that can run the games as they are is a good idea.

@Blathers: Xenoblade Chronicles was ported from the Wii to the New 3DS and it is the complete opposite of "worse". It is absolutely perfect. It would be a dream come true if Windwaker and Twilight Princess were ported to the New 3DS. Using Xenoblade as an example, it definitely can be done. The N3DS is actually a more powerful system than the Wii. With a quad core processor, a faster graphics processor, and way more RAM, 3D ports of Wii games on the N3DS would actually be a much better gaming experience. I have played all the Zelda games except Four Swords (which I have on my N3DS), Windwaker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword. As I don't currently have a Wii or WiiU, and I use the N3DS as my primary gaming system, I would welcome GC/Wii ported games with arms wide open.

Nintendo should remember that the Gamecube existed. Porting to the New 3DS would be a lot of work, though I'd be open if it were the only way I was getting them. Easy, though, would be to simply upload the ROMs to the Wii U eShop. They've shunned third party systems this generation, and in return, third parties have shunned the newest iteration of the Virtual Console. The least they could do is fill out the catalog with their own games. We currently have the NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and Wii, but there's a big square hole they are adamantly ignoring.

Except for its sales, which were very "meh". Can't argue with stats.

that doesn't mean the game isn't great. it just means that a lot of people already had the wii version and didn't bother buying the portable version. or they just didn't see the need to upgrade to a new system to play the game.

Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

I rest my case.

Gamecube games though, maybe, seeing as few people owned a GameCube.

While I say yes, I still feel that perhaps SNES, N64, GBA and DS games should ALSO come to the 3DS.

I really think I am not out of line to expect games to move towards portable. ESPECIALLY GBA and DS games that were ALREADY portable to begin with. I still do not understand that logic to put them on Wii U...
