This is unrelated to the Spotpass Sleep Mode thread
'k, so not sure if there's been a thread about this before. Enlighten me if there has and it's a known issue. So occasionally after having my 3DS in my bag at work, I've set off home and discovered the system turned off and the battery completely flat. I believe the system is randomly awakening itself from Sleep Mode whilst the lid is closed and spending five hours lit up in my bag, subsequently draining the battery. I know for a fact that the lid is not being forced open by anything, it's just randomly waking up.
Also, I was playing Zelda the other day and the screen kept going black, also cutting off the sound, input, etc. At first I assumed that the black screen glitch from before the update had come back to haunt us, but after a few seconds the game resumed as though nothing happened - I take this to be the system randomly going into Sleep Mode when the lid is open too.
So basically I think my Sleep Mode is messed up. It's a very rare occurrence - the Zelda thing only happened twice (both within the same five minutes), and I've discovered the battery drained en route home three times in the month-and-a-bit I've owned it (I carry it with me every day). The battery drain and system updates mark the only times in four weeks that I've ever turned the system off.
Is it a known issue, or a hardware fault specific to my system? Thought I'd get some answers here before giving Nintendo a shout. Cheers folks~
do you have anything in your bag that has a magnet in it, or do you place your bag near magnets? I'm pretty sure the mechanism that puts the 3DS into sleep mode is magnet-based.

Nope. Pretty much only things I carry are my 3DS, a writing book and a pen. Don't think anything in my office is magnetic. Might have a hunt around see if anything might be affecting it. Trouble is I have no idea when it's being triggered; can't exactly keep checking it at work, lol. Working at a hospital (obviously I don't carry the thing onto the wards if I have to go there, it stays in the office), there's potentially a lot of things that might trigger it if it's a magnet problem. Lots of mysterious equipment and security devices around, lol. But that doesn't explain Zelda flipping in and out of sleep mode on the bus (don't think it's specific to Zelda, that's just what I happened to be playing at the time). Ho hum~
...I hope it never wakes up with the volume at max and blasts my usually quiet workplace with ZELDA FANFARE FROM NOWHERE
