Will the games have the game corner for the European region? Or will it be stripped from their version?

If it's stripped from any version, it will be stripped from all of them.

Curiously, I noticed a 12 rating on the box of the Red, Blue, Yellow 2DS console bundles, so I assume that the 12 rating applies to Red, Blue and Yellow's gambling content (3DS consoles normally carry a 7 PEGI rating on the box to factor in the rating for Face Raiders). In Australia, however, Nintendo are under no obligation to get Red, Blue and Yellow reclassified unless the content differs from the version that was rated back in 1998, so they can either risk getting a PG by getting it reclassified, or they can keep the original G ratings. The Australian Classification Board didn't start issuing PG (then G8+) ratings for gambling in the Pokémon games until the release of Pokémon Crystal (even though the gambling content is identical to what was included in Gold and Silver games, which were rated G).

Game Corner was a part of the plot in RBY.

There was a card game programmed in GSC that I don't believe was used (and I don't know if it was complete). I'm guessing at some point GSC is going to be released, and I wonder if they are going to use that?

If they're going to tamper with the game, they should do more important things. Like letting us do the GS Ball event after completing ingame events.

Considering the GS Ball data and the event that triggers Celebi is included even in the international versions of Pokémon Crystal, it is likely that an event that gives players a GS Ball (or a code to unlock it a la Mew with the R/B/Y VC release) will be programmed into the VC version of Crystal. The GS Ball event, however, was not distributed outside of Japan, and only Celebi itself was distributed internationally.

Similarly, in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, there is an in-game location (Hall of Origin) that can be unlocked via an event-exclusive key item (Azure Flute), however, the Azure Flute was never released anywhere in the world, and so it is not legitimately possible to capture Arceus. Arceus was instead distributed via an in-store event.

What's this about getting rid of the Game Corner? Surely not another rumour? Sacré bleu!

@Morpheel: but why would they get rid of something from the game in the first place? IIRC Bill's exact words in the Direct were that the games are 'exactly the same' or 'completely intact' or something along those lines. Besides the Game Corner is where we all learnt how to gamble, even thinking of Red/Blue without it is a fate too horrible to imagine.

Eh, playing the original two in boring black and white or horrible green is also too horrible to imagine. But that's sadly their fate.

Anyway, just let them talk about it, it's harmless.

This thread is pretty much the classic story of "we got what we want and that's not good enough".

Pokemon Shuffle needs to be ascended to "main game minigame", at least in some sort of way, not necessarily the full thing. Gaining coins to buy items and Pokemon would be a lot more tolerable.

It would be awesome.

As I've said before, it is very likely that the Game Corner and its naughty gambling activities will remain intact as the 2DS bundles for Red, Blue and Yellow are rated 12 (I assume due to the gambling content in the games), as non-bundle 2DS/3DS consoles ordinarily carry a 7 rating (due to Face Raiders, which is rated 7 for violence).

Lol did I read once, that the gambling rating is based on how in depth the gambling actually is? (all ratings essentially get picked apart like this) I swear it was based on some obvious things but some weird things as well, such as how many lines the slot machines have, how high the AI's difficulty is, and how many games the casino offers and then obviously presentation. Maybe it was just an article where someone was telling everyone what they think they know is correct and it was just speculation. But if it were true that would explain why they have minimal casino action and can get away with it. You stank at the slots in Pokemon if you NEVER won. I wouldn't spend TOO much time on it and I remember getting triple 7s a few times in the same sitting.

I was never too bothered with the Game Corners; I would normally just buy the amount of coins needed to get a prize Pokemon. XD

That said, I don't see Nintendo removing the Game Corner, particularly as it's integral to some of the plot. It is interesting how stuff like this was more relaxed back in the day.

It's harder to buy all the coins in RBY as money-farming is MUCH more limited than in later generations (once you defeat all the trainers, it's limited to Pay Day, Elite 4 rematches and buying prizes from Game Corner just to resell to buy more coins (which means you'd have to buy a few coins and then earn the rest in order to remain profitable).
From my experience, hitting the jackpot isn't THAT uncommon in RBY, and you can slowly make profit by button-mashing (and of course, save abuse to keep from failing too far back).

Having skipped over the games back in the 90's (didn't look interesting at the time despite my friends, and I was busy with Mario, Zelda, and some others) i can not decide which would be best. Between Red and Blue, I'd go Red, but then there is Yellow.. . I know it's more like the anime, which I kind of don't care, but if there are other improvements I might.

@Whopper744: Red and Blue you are able to pick between 3 starters. In Yellow, you are forced to use Pikachu as a starter (who isn't that great as a starter) but are able to get the other 3 in other ways. Those are mostly the differences. I think Yellow has a few more features but they are very minor.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I think the most important feature over red and blue is the color. Yellow was a GBC game in our regions, so it will be in color in these versions.

Red and blue will be the usual black and white.

@Morpheel: I wish they could've added in the super Gameboy/Stadium borders for the original resolution ratio.

Bass_X0

I wish they would do a completely new remake of Pokemon Yellow focusing more on following the storyline of the TV show from the beginning than the original game's storyline. There would be a bunch of mini-games added like when you meet with Samurai in Viridian Forest, you have to run away from the Beedrill swarm.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

jump

So it's out in a few weeks and does anyone know if it'll be normal priced compared to other gb/gbc vc games or will they be milking it?
