I got the new 3ds Majora's mask edition yesterday. the touchscreen won't work. In fact, the console react like one point on the touchscreen would be held down, all the time. so I can't do anything. I tried booting it in touchscreen calibration mode (boot while holding L+R+X) but when I prompt to touch the different points on the screen, it won't react. I just want to ask if you could help me on this before I start a repair requst at nintendo.

How is your new 3ds XL?

Have you used the stylus properly? the tip of the stylus and not its handle? try charging the system fully, then go to the settings instead of the shortcut and try to calibrate it through there.

Also during calibration, you should touch it at the point and not anywhere else because if you do that, it won't respond correctly.

Usually I don't buy systems way early because of the fact that something like this is bound to happen and limited editions is where most of these problems are bound to happen. But all I can say is, go back to the store and complain. I don't have the new 3DS xl yet but in my experiences with DS, DS Lite, 3DS and 3DS XL, I've never had a defective touch screen if that helps.

Lol. Yeah I used the stylus correctly. I can't go to the settings cause I can't click on anything. I also click on where I prompted to do in calibration menu.

Btw, you can't go back to a store for a repair. you m ust communicate with nintendo. I know in store you can exchange for another unit but, I pretty sure there is no MM edition at that moment.

I'm a very susceptible guy when faced to problems that really bother me. I'm trying very hard not to be mad about you pointing out my mistake of buying a console as soon it's available. but I'll say thank you for your response.

Are you using screen protectors?

Faulty application of them can result in the screen thinking you're pressing it all the time.

If not, then search for debris or dirt in the edges of the screen. Having a game or application with a visible cursor will help finding the affected area.

@doomgc look man, its an advice that works and I know the pain that early adopters have to go through which is why I'm telling you don't do it again next time.

But like I said earlier, you just have to get it either exchanged or get it repaired.
