This goes past "wishful thinking." If we got Mother for the 3DS in the west, I would move out of the country and live in Japan when I finished college.

I think a remake for the 3DS would be a successful project. I'd buy 5.
Why would one need 5...?
Because he would want more Mother games released,alas the only Mother games that will be released in the UK,and US are the ones where you play as a Mum/Mom to a baby.
