Topic: left over eShop funds?

I own a 2DS and a Wii U. I don't own a Switch yet. My eShop wallet can have a max of $250. If I load it up but end up not using it all, can I use what's left on the switch once I eventually get one?

thanks. I'm away from home, but I have my 2DS. I decided to buy quite a few eShop exclusives yesterday, and then I maxed out my eShop wallet for anything left on the Wii U. Anything I don't spend, I'll just bring with me to the Switch.

I know your main question has already been answered but be aware that you can't use gold points for 3DS purchases anymore. You need to use them for Switch purchases.

@Maximumbeans thanks. I don't own a Switch yet, but I was looking at my points balance the other day actually. I have 875 gold points. There really isn't anything worthwhile on their store, but are you saying that I can use them to buy games on Switch?

@Gryffin You can put them towards any Switch purchase, one point is one pence for UK so I presume one point is a cent for US. So if you've got 875 points I assume that's $8.75, so you can either chip that amount off of something more expensive or you can use it to get something $8.75 or cheaper for free.

I'm stepping in just to say this is correct; one gold coin = 1 cent in USD.

Currently playing: Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations (Switch/AAT)

I just wanted to step in to clairify that the 2DS/Wii U Nintendo Network ID needs to be linked to a Nintendo Account, not the Switch (Although the Switch uses the Nintendo Account to log in). You can create a free one on the Nintendo website even without owning a Switch.
