Dear readers of Nintendolife,

I have been an owner of a original 3DS for 6 years now. Although I always found the system a bit small, especially the shoulderbuttons, and the batterylife disappointing, but it has served me quite well over these six years. Last time I heard that Nintendo stopped production of this model and stopped providing support as well(?).

Now I might be interested in upgrading to a newer model because I still got a bunch of games I plan to play on the system. Do you think it is worth it? and if so, which model? I personally I have taken quite a liking to the New 2DS XL White/Orange design but it's has a hefty launch price, which is nearly half the price of the Switch where I live.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Ive had the new 2DS xl for a few weeks now and love it. Fits fine in the pocket nice and light and great size screens for gaming. I thought the price really reasonable and got a bundle with Luigis Mansion 2 as well all for $189 Aussie. Its well worth it imo.

Some of Mario Odyssey is seriously giving heart palpitations.... that plumber is trying to kill me!

-there sure will be support for your 3DS as long as there is support for any other model of the 3DS family.

-if you don't need 3D then the 2DS is the better choice.

i also have a standart 3DS (since launch) but i rarely play it anymore. i will probably get a few games for it in the future, but not enough to justify the purchase of a different model. better save the money for a switch or other stuff.

The new 2DS XL is great with the exception of the speaker situation which isn't a deal breaker for me but a downgrade from say the "new" 3DS XL.

I also own a smaller original 3ds and the upgrade is absolutely worth it if you have adult hands and want a faster 3DS. Oh yeah and also the stylus is smaller then the 3ds XL typically are, but is wider than the original 3ds so you might not notice a difference from from the original.
